Dell Ultra quad pcie 3 nvme ssd holder
This product is designed for the newer Dell precision line. (In my case t7920 and t5820). It is pcie 3x speed card with four open m.2 ssd slots. Since it is nvme it is generally faster than SATA SSD’s. I have installed 2 of these successfully (each with four m.2 drives each).I bought various m.2 Samsung 970’s and installed them in the Dell pcie holder. The pcie has a fan powered by the slot to keep the SSD’s cool. To access all four m.2 drives you MUST use a X16 size pcie not a x16 wired as x4 or x8. Manuals are not always clear. If it is x16 wired as x8 not all drives will show. No change to Dell bios was required when I installed the two I did. Supposedly designed about 2019 for dells new precision line. Added significant speeds over SATA.

Nice solution to add 4 NVME cards to your workstation
Bought this card to add 4 NVME drives to my DELL T7910 workstation, since it doesn't have the options built-in. This will allow me to increase storage from spinning drives to much, much faster storage memory. NVME's will nicely match the 2 XEON processors 36 cores (72 virtual) , and the 512GB of RAM (this machine can go up to 1-2TB or RAM!) - good for creating Virtual machines running services to multiple users + Media server. Or crypto mining...as it can take 4 GPU slim cards...

Comes with heatsink
This was at least $50 cheaper than other OEM ones listed here, but I didn't see anything about a heatsink. Can't make any guarantees obviously, but mine came with one.

Failed after 5 months
Went down on us at 8am and the only way to bring it back up was to remove power cord from server, wait 5 mins, plugged it back in and it came back online so we could see the NVMe RAID-1 config but one of the drives was no longer accessible in the RAID config. Moved everything to another storage adapter and will try again with another adapter card.

Works, but check compatibility first
This now works perfectly on my Dell 7920 using Samsung 2TB m.2 drives. The Samsung drive cloning software is excellent.I could NOT get Crucial 2TB m.2 drives to work properly, despite Crucial stating they were compatible. The problem seems to be with the Acronis cloning software not properly preparing the drives, but who knows.

Works great in Dell R740xd server running TrueNAS Scale
Just needed to enable bifurcation (x4) in BIOS and the OS sees four NVME drives.

"New" but packaged nicely atleast
Obviously this isn't "New" in any way. The part I received showed signs of being refurbished. I wasn't expecting to actually get a new and unused part. But advertising the part as "New" upsets me knowing someone who's new to server parts might be surprised.Part seemed to be cleaned well, other then some dust being caked on the back of the card from being in a server for a few years. The metal bracket was bent inward pretty good, it was at probably a 45 degree angle when I unboxed it. Simply rebent it to an eyeball version of 90 and all is good.Filled the card up with some 990 Pros. Also yes gen 4 in a gen 3 slot I know. I have my reasons. Installed the card into an R730XD and setup bifurcation for slot....6 I think. Depending on riser cards there's 2 slots that support 4x4x4x4. I believe it was 4 and 6. RTM for R730 or R730XD.One thing I would like to recommend, disabling a setting that isn't as simple as toggling a box. The server is unable to determine how fast to run the fans so it just assumes 66% is a good place to set the fans 24/7.So here's a blurb from Dell themselves on how to fix this issue.ENABLE/DISABLE Third-Party PCIe card based default system fan response:Download and install OpenManage BMC Utility.Enable the "IPMI over LAN" in iDRAC of the target machine, this can be done via iDRAC Web GUI or BIOS Setup.Go to the installation folder of OpenManage BMC Utility, run the following commands:Set Third-Party PCIe Card Default Cooling Response Logic To Disabledipmitool -I lanplus -H -U -P raw 0x30 0xce 0x00 0x16 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x05 0x00 0x01 0x00 0x00Set Third-Party PCIe Card Default Cooling Response Logic To Enabledipmitool -I lanplus -H -U -P raw 0x30 0xce 0x00 0x16 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00Get Third-Party PCIe Card Default Cooling Response Logic Statusipmitool -I lanplus -H -U -P raw 0x30 0xce 0x01 0x16 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00The response data is:16 05 00 00 00 05 00 01 00 00 (Disabled)16 05 00 00 00 05 00 00 00 00 (Enabled)
