#1205 Trojan Cruiser KIT 1/12 Scale

This 31’ Trojan Dumas kit was less complete than the ‘49 Chris Craft kit I recently completed, but it was a creative experience as the interior finishes, props, rudders and aft rail struts had to be self designed. I used left over mahogany for the interior flooring and trim, .25” balsa for furniture, and installed LED lighting throughout. A rewarding experience if you like to be creative. I would have liked them to provide more detailed instructions as they had with the Chris Craft, and things like chrome fixtures and decals, but in the end I was pleased. I built just as a showpiece and not for RC use. That would add even another level of difficulty.

The directions are poor. The plywood warped. Blueprints not totally accurate nor complete. Definitely NOT laser cut. But, that helps the builder be involved, deliberate and unique. Fortunately, the Trojan 31 and other lengths/styles were very popular craft with many, now, for sale... With photos!!!! On my side, I remember dad's from my youth. Happy building, skipper. P.S. cruise speed was 4,000 RPM, twin Chrysler 318 (225 HP), 1.5:1 reduction. in English, 7 knots or so/ say, 8 maybe 9 MPH. Top speed 25

This is a all wood build from scratch kit. Once completed and the time is taken to build this boat it is a beautiful work of art.. Not sure what the complaints are about. As it's all their and it's all wood it's all in the builder not what's in the box but what you build that's in that box! Great price thanks Amazon!!!!!

The kit is a true build from scratch kit. If you are in a hurry to build this , move on to another kit, This is one that takes a lot of time but it will be worth it in in end, the detail and finish is what its all about. The instructions and a little hard to follow, but if you are havng problems the Dumas hobby people are very helpful on the phone, DONT try e-mail if you have a question, the interrpretion will get lost. If you go on the internet, there a lot of rc hobby forms you can get pics and info from.All in all a good kit but take your time and enjoy..

not what i expected sent back

This is not worth the price. The parts included are cheap, basically include some thin metal wrap for the railing. The "window" material is a roll of plastic. If you want to make this look nice you will have to custom make your own or buy additional quality made parts.The instructions are cryptic at best. We got it built but you can not count on the instructions to complete this. The instructions refer to a part #29 but there is not a part labeled in the entire kit with this number or any instruction how you should build the part (The instructions have you build several parts from scratch).Don't buy this!
