There are several "mental models" that are quite important when understanding the world, especially like one in modern times where conventional knowledge doesn't seem to quite cut it.Understanding exponential changes, understanding networks and emergence, understanding non linear change, understanding time scales and physical scales.None of these are present in this book.Instead the author seems to find it self aggrandising to present simple basic scientific grammar school level knowledge as some erudite wisdom.It's nice to look at, though the red seems a bit tiresome, and I don't think the facade of it being something even moderately intelligent beyond the brash title would go far.

Shane and Co have knocked it out of the park - absolutely gorgeous book. It's a joy just to hold and leaf through due to the craftsmanship and quality of the product and the design. I've been reading Farnam Street for almost a decade so I knew the content was going to be top notch and timeless. The beauty of the physical thing itself was an unexpected bonus and I'm astonished I got it for under 20€...

This book is deserving of many more stars for its content alone but the glue binding has let it down.The glue binding the spine to the cloth cover came off within a couple days of receiving it.Still connected in parts but not what one would expect of a new book.It's also very easy to leave fingerprint stains on the cover which I utterly dislike.I’m in two minds to send it back but noticed that the price has been jacked up - although Amazon would refund me, buying it again at a higher price is just not attractive.
