Works for Phone Calls!
I've only had this a day so can't speak to reliability, etc. but the unit appears to be of high quality. And it does one thing that's been almost impossible for me to find. I have a hearing problem and phone calls are very difficult. Both my hearing aids have built in T-coil receivers but they don't work very well with my iPhone. A few years ago I bought a T-coil neck loop (ClearSounds CLA7v2) that plugged into my iPhone 6 audio jack (3.5mm). This worked perfectly but as we all know the audio jack was removed from iPhones 7 and up. Recently I was forced to upgrade iPhones (to 8 plus) and lost the audio jack. So, a lightning adapter was required. Unfortunately the headset adapters without a separate mic jack that I first tried provided audio to the T-coil but disabled the internal iPhone mike. For phone calls I could hear the caller but the caller could not hear me. This unit has separate headphone and mike jacks so I bought a lavalier mike along with this unit and it all worked great. I suspected the internal mike would be enabled if nothing were plugged into the mike jack on the adapter and was right. No external mike is needed. For those who have no hearing problem but prefer to use headphones with or without an external mike for phone calls this does the trick.

Sound System or Microphone Input to iPhone
This adapter gives you a 3.5 mm microphone or mono audio system input and a 3.5 mm stereo headphone output to an iphone. First bought one to connect phone to aircraft audio panel; bought another to connect PA sound system to iphone. Works. Simple.Only caution is make sure that you pay attention to the cables you use with it - pay attention to the tip diagrams and get the right cables to convert from stereo to 4 pin etc. and it will work perfectly.Only drawback is that it does not have a direct way to get power to the phone while using it for long periods of time.Love this device - have bought 2 and ordering another.

Works like it should, I guess, but not like I hoped it would work.
Our crisis negotiations team needed a splitter for iPhones where one person can use headphones with a mic to talk and listen and the second person to only listen to the conversation. This almost does what we need it to do, but not quite. The jack that uses the headphone and mic work well. The jack with just the listening headphones is the problem--that person can't hear what the person sitting next to them is saying. They can hear the incoming voice, but not the one sitting next to them.Their customer service was great. Quickly responsive and listened to what we needed. When they said this didn't do it and said they didn't have a product that did, they said they'd send it to their development folks to take a look at.Good product, just not perfect for our purposes.

This device claims to be a lightning to 3.5 mm mic and headphone jack compatible with Apple. Beware!
There is nothing I can show in a picture so I will have to explain. Sadly, I purchased this item one month ago...September 4 and now it cannot be returned. I know the difference between trrs and trs. I used trrs throughout except that this device would NOT record my voice but rather everything else. This tiny piece of equipment caused me so much heartburn. DO NOT BUY THIS! IT IS TRASH! Buy something else...be sure it is mFi certified and I really don't recommend using headphones and a microphone in the same jac unless you know for a fact what you are doing.

Perfect answer for a Twitter Spaces
For the price this thing is great! It essentially works as an external sound card like you would get for your pc, allowing you to, in my case hook up my board and full production set up into my phone so I can utilize my equipment in spaces. Sound quality could be a little better but realistically for what you are buying it’s quite impressive, i have been recommending to everyone looking for better sound quality in twitter spaces. Hope you find this helpful, cheers

Works for phone calls.
Bought this to pair with a directional mic and headphones to make clear calls in loud environments. This did the trick allowing my iPhone to use an external mic for phone calls.
