Tin Whistle for Beginners - Volume 1: Irish Songs, Gaelic Songs, Scottish Songs

This is a fabulous set of tunes for beginners. Rather than a tin whistle, I'm using a plastic fife, also 6 holes.I've been frustrated most of my life wanting to play music. I'd really love to play guitar, and yet I can't seem to get myself to practice. I honestly think this will be my 'in' to the habit of practicing and playing and will lead to another instrument. And, it's also fun on its own even if I don't play anything else.In just a few short sessions, with the help of listening to the download and using the finger tabs in the book (I don't read more than simple rhythm), I could pump out a few songs and even start to embellish.My only complaint is that the book is not spiral bound, making it difficult to keep it open while playing. A black binder clip helps.Another note: I had a difficult time finding the download on the author's website. He responded within a day by email and provided the link. Awesome service.

I just got my first tin whistle and this book. It’s a wonderful collection of tunes. Being able to listen to the audio that goes along with it has been very helpful. I’m so glad I made this purchase. This is an excellent book for a beginner like myself. I can see myself playing from this book even after I’ve made it through the “beginner” phase.

This book has lots of songs but it is laid out really poorly. Instead of teaching you the fingering isn’t he beginning it includes the fingering of every song. Really weird. And then it doesn’t teach any of the ornamentation which is critical to Irish/Scottish music. Would not recommend

Nice collection and a link to audio files which help a lot. I wish there were some markes where to add the ornoments, but I believe I will get it when I have more experience

So many songs! Includes sheet music and fingering charts. This is a great catalog and highly recommend.

Easy to read and play traditional songs with your tin whistle! You don't have to know how to read music to learn songs in this book.

I wish I had time too really learn the tin whistle. Otherwise, it is good and would work well for a beginner. It is basically a mini block flute.

It was exactly what I wanted and expected.

I like the book and the downloadable file is handy.I did find it a bit advanced for someone who's never played an instrument before though.I'm slowly working my way through it now, but I had to find something a bit easier to start. I think the book needs a prequel.

I've really enjoyed working my way through this book. It has made me a much better player and I've actually memorized many of the more pleasant sounding tunes. This is such a great book I plan on ordering the second volume as well.
