Decent beginners guitar with a high tech twist.
The Good: Decently made, compares well to other China made acoustics at this price point, good fit and finish, a few flaws with extra bridge glue and trim, but otherwise acceptable. Solid feeling sealed tuners. Fishman isys+ preamp and tuner is basic, tuner seems to struggle a bit, I end up using my snark instead and the guitar sounds better. The Not so good: This guitar is supposed to have the 'professional setup' option from fretlight. While the fret crown and levelings are acceptable, I would expect that of any acoustic above 100$. It seems to come with medium strings and a fairly tall saddle, making the action a bit tall for beginners. You're probably looking at 75$ at a local shop to make it more playableThe WOW: The embedded LED system in the fretboard is what sets this apart. Many will find having the chord patterns lit up marking where you should put your fingers a great help as it can reduce the amount of time you don't sound so good when first starting out ( I call that the "suck time and it usually lasts about the first 6 months, with at least 3x/week practice, while your brain, ears and fingers are getting acclimated. )As you advance, some folks can just read a tablature from a website and then play it. I often cannot. This light system will step you through the process, once you've synced it via Bluetooth, and downloaded the app (Warning everything costs extra, 3$/song on the apps. ) You can slow down the tempo to follow, then speed it up as you gain proficiency. Between the 2 apps there is a good library of songs, but I'm a bit disappointed at the 2.99 price tag. I'd be 10x more likely to buy a song for .99This guitar is a good tool for learning, for those who embrace it. It also can make a cool decoration if you just hang it on the wall and play the songs thru the lights with the sound muted. With practice, you'll be stepping up to a more professional instrument in a year or less...
