Classic ~ Andy Williams ~ Mostly Standards & Mood Music (3 of 4 disc)
If you generally like Williams voice and music, this collection is a treat! This four disc set contains Andy Williams first eight original albums, digitally remastered, from his 1956 album debut to 1960. Here's 95 tracks, with the total time of four hours & 17 min.Nine of his eleven hits during that time period are here, (plus one released in 1962) and nine B-sides.But this collection isn't about 'hits', it's simply great easy listening music.Even Williams spirited pop hits are melodically excellent.Disc One ~"Andy Williams Sings Steve Allen" - 1956, ~ beautiful classics, this was before he had any hits."Andy Williams" - 1958, ~ contains 6 hits & 6 B-sides.Disc Two ~"Andy Williams Sings Rogers & Hammerstein" - 1958, ~ Beautiful classics."Two Time Winners" - 1959, ~ Pop standards.Disc Three ~"To You Sweetheart, Aloha" - 1959, ~ Hawaiian & Island music."Lonely Street" - 1959, ~ Beautiful standards.Disc Four ~"The Village Of St. Bernadette" - 1960, ~ Spiritual & inspirational."Under Paris Skies" - 1960, ~ Songs of Paris, & love songs.(I personally don't care for the contents of the forth disc as much as the first three, especially the Paris tracks, they seem a bit busy, and didn't catch my interest, still this is an awesome value of the other music here that I do like)Track Listing and noting of which songs are the charted hits.Disc One ~~~~ "Andy Williams Sings Steve Allen" ~~~ 1956.1. Lovely classic Andy Williams
I ordered this product with a fair amount of cautious trepidation, not knowing quite what to expect from this label or from this format, and was pleasantly surprized to receive a wonderful treasure-trove of classic Andy Williams albums all reproduced with the same great sound that you might expect in a re-issue by the original recording company. The first disc is the best, featuring Williams against a spare and balanced jazz-like instrumental backdrop. The arrangments are tasteful, and Williams voice shines through in all its subtle nuance and sensitivity. Another disc features broadway showtunes with more elaborate and less tasteful accompaniments. There is a bit of distorton in the vocal ensembles used, but I'm sure that comes in the original, and not in the transfer to digital disc. Another disc fetures Hawaiian favorites, and another, religious-inspired pieces replete with roccoco voice ensembles. But in each of these recordings, Williams voice shines through clear and pure. If you love Andy Williams, this set will not disappoint you. There are no liner notes nor even a listing of what albums you are hearing, so if you want details, recording dates, arrangers, orchestras, and instrumenalists, you're on your own! But with a very little bit of websurfing, which should include a gander at the Wikipedia listing of the Andy Williams Discography, you'll soon have some answers. To one who grew up with the impossibly cluttered Andy Williams sound of the early '70s, when the studio mixes came out overdubbed, brassy, and trying awfully hard to sound rock-and-rollish and "cool," this splendid collection of earlier recordings comes as delightful breath of fresh air. I am grateful to the company that puts these out, as I have no doubt that such treasures would otherwise remain buried and unavailable to the public.

ANOTHER GIFT OF TALENT PRESERVED FOR OUR QUALITY OF LIFE AND PLEASURE
We, gratefully, find ourselves living in a fortunate period when Time has been transposed by technology, and we are graced bya new reality when there is now seldom a talent of performance or artistry that is lost to us because of age or even death. Whatperhaps lay solely within the province of books, symphonic or operatic music, in perpetuating beauty and values is now joined bytechnological gifts that renews our admiration (and pleasure) in a fortunate "now." Such is the case with Beverly Sills, AndyWilliams, Leonard Bernstein - why list? There is hardly any artist, at any age of singular talent, who is lost to us in terms of quality ofcolor reproduction, quality of sound, thought, even within the full wonder of their personal physical image at whatever age if even once recorded or photographed. This, for example, is DOUBLY evident, when an elderly Andy introduces his own young vibrant gift of song truly alive for now or forever as long as our interest or inquiry desires and seeks fruition.

張りのある若い頃の歌声を堪能
古い曲ばかりなので、音色も悪いと思っていましたが、モノラルであっても、録音状況は非常によく張りのある若い頃のAndy Williamsの歌声を堪能できました。
