Hamilton Beach 24671 Extra-Wide Slot Toaster with Shade Selector, Auto Shutoff, Cancel Button Toast Boost, Stainless Steel 4-Slice

I usually love Hamilton Beach products but this was a terrible purchase. I’m going to have to buy a different toaster. It heats unevenly. It also smoked like crazy the first two uses and continues to smell every time we use it. Very dissatisfied.

Used 2x and the handle of the toaster snapped off. Cheap plastic, very disappointed.

Got this toaster August 24 2019. It died November 19, 2019R.I.P. "old guy". I'll miss you.

I would give this product zero stars if possible. Plugged it in and it immediately smelled like burning plastic to a dangerous level. Filled apartment with horrible fumes and smell, product must be seriously defective and possibly dangerous. DO NOT BUY, spend the extra money and avoid this one

In a word, we returned this item to Amazon. It didn't inspire a lot of confidence coming out of the box so light weight that my first thought was "I've bought a toy toaster". Giving credit where it's due, the toaster did a quite good job of ... you guessed it ... toasting bread. And, even though that is the prime function of a toaster, it's also nice to believe it will still be toasting a year later.The controls are so-so. All at least functional except the 'extra height lifter' (if 1/4 inch is all you want, go for it; if you want it to get the toast high enough out of the unit to grip it with your fingers, forget it.) Even worse, when you depress the carriage to push the bread down and start toasting, the final 'click' at the bottom was more of a 'grind' A rough metal on metal sound and feel made me suspect that reasonably important parts would be history long before I was ready for them to be.If your use will be occasional, and all you wan is a slice of toast or a bagel 'at times' instead of 'daily/usually', this unit should provide acceptable service for a while. We use our toaster daily, and I was not impressed with anything but the cheap price. I guess that's OK if you're satisfied with a cheap toaster.

Our old toaster died after years of service. I came online to look for a replacement after a suitable ceremony. I was shocked when I saw the prices of all the "toasters" on the first page. Prices as high as $300 for a toaster?? Ridiculous! I persevered and continued to scroll, LO and BEHOLD, I came across a Hamilton Beach Steel 2 slice toaster! Almost a twin to the one we had recently lost. Got it in, plugged it in....IT WORKS. PERFECT TOAST the very first time, for a cost of only $19.99. Seriously folks what do you want to a toaster to do? This will toast bread quickly, and more efficiently than out old one, better controls and the extra wide slots make it a winner.

Bought this toaster to replace a large heavy Kitchen Aid with slow uneven toasting. The Hamilton Beach has fast even toasting and the dial control is easy to use and toasting is consistent. It is light weight, small and easy to store. A really great buy.

Pretty good for $24. What more do you need?Photo makes the metal sides look matte, but its very shiny. Looks nicer than expected.Pretty lightweight, but for this cheap thats not an issue. Doesnt make my apartment reek of burning plastic. Very nice!
