AdoraAmazing Girls 18-inch Doll Erica (Amazon Exclusive)

Wow. I had wanted to buy my daughter an American Girl doll for her birthday. But just couldn't bring myself to spend so much on a doll. I didn't want to compromise on quality, however. I found the Amazing Girls dolls and thought I'd "settle" on that. I purchased "Adora". She arrived today and I am THRILLED with the quality! Thick, well-rooted, luxurious hair. Gorgeous eyes. Soft vinyl face, legs, and arms. And easily posable. I was especially happy with the posabity of the head. It not only turns, but tilts at angles. Her outfit is also very well constructed. I will definitely be buying more of this line of product!Follow up posting:I felt I should remove one star after my daughter removed her doll from its box. At the time of my original posting I was examining the doll while it was still tied in place in its box. The front of its hair looked thick and full when I pulled it apart and looked at it. I had assumed the back would be the same. However, I was surprised at how thin the hair is in the back. The scalp easily shows even with the hair left down. It can't be styled much because of its thinness. I suppose this is one area where the American girl doll is superior.And as I've seen in other reviews, the boots are very difficult to put on. And the solution seems frustratingly simple. Elastic laces on the boots instead of non-stretchable string would have solved the problem.Other reviews have mentioned the legs popping off. If this happens to our doll I will post that it did and change my rating again. However, as long as we don't encounter that problem, I still say this doll is worth the money and is very beautiful.

**UPDATE** After taking the doll out of the cardboard backing I could clearly see what others were talking about with the hair. ITS A "BALDING" doll! The doll is beautiful but that hair. I mean for $60 you can add a little more in the back. I just told my daughter to keep her hair down or in a ponytail. No pig tails. That way you can avoid looking at that bald spot. I dropped the rating one star for that.After reading lots of reviews I was afraid that the doll would look cheap. One of the biggest complaints was the dolls legs being cheap and flimsy. I can honestly say I was very pleased with this doll. Her hair was very pretty, the clothes didn't look cheap and unlike other reviews, her legs and feet weren't "flimsy". I think my daughter is going to be very happy with it. The only thing was her shoes were very cheaply made. Like a thin paper looking material that would easily tear. But other than that, I would definitely purchase again and especially choose it over an American Girl doll.

**EDIT: I got my THIRD replacement of this doll and there was a smudge on the THIRD doll's forehead as well. I ended up having to give it to my daughter because I received the replacement on her birthday and that was the gift I was going to give her. I DO NOT recommend this doll. Though, Amazon was great to work with...the doll is a disappointment. Her hair in the back is SO THIN. And she feels cheap. I didn't want to spend anymore $$$at AG, but my husband didn't want me to get the Target doll...but I say, GO WITH THE TARGET DOLL. One of my daughters has a deluxe OG and it is MUCH BETTER QUALITY than the Adora Ava...AND it was half the price!I purchased Ava and she has an area on her forehead that looks worn off. I replaced her and the next one came with a bigger smudge. I am replacing her again and will update if she looks good. So far, I'm really disappointed, because she is a beautiful doll in every other way.

Very cute doll. Good quality for the price but she is not comparable to an American Girl doll. The arms and legs are more rubbery and not quite as sturdy. She would be great for younger girls. The shoes were tricky to get on because her foot is not stiff and the shoes are a thin paper material with foam soles. Other than that she is very pretty and has soft and shiny hair.

This doll is adorable. I am not spending over one hundred dollars for an American Girl Doll. I chose this particular model because it looks a lot like my granddaughter for whom I bought it for. I can't speak as to how well it will hold up. Therefore, I gave 4 stars for durability. I can't imagine any little girl who wouldn't love the Adora Doll collection.
