10Gtekfor Cisco GLC-SX-MMD/GLC-SX-MM/SFP-GE-S, Gigabit SFP SX Transceiver, 1000Base-SX, MMF, 850nm, 550m

I've bought quite a few 10Gtek SFP modules over the years and have had great success with all of them. Generally when I'm in the market for new SFP modules I tend to look at 10Gtek's offerings first.This was a 4 pack of the gigabit 1000Base-SX modules which I have used to link a Cisco SG350-10 to a Mikrotik CRS308-1G-8S+IN with 2 ports on each device using 802.3ad LACP and they work perfectly in both devices.I've been using these modules for nearly a year with no issues at all. The same can also be said for the 10Gtek 10Gbase-SR 10 Gigabit SFP+ modules I'm also using several of.10Gtek tends to be much cheaper than the main manufacturers offerings, i.e. Cisco, but also seem to perform just as well and are highly compatible with most devices.

Rated as 3 stars because although this works great in a Cisco SG350 at 1g, it doesn’t auto negotiate down to 10m, despite being advertised as a 10/100/1000Base-T model.This caused me an issue because I have a couple of SuperMicro server boards and they run in shared IPMI network port mode. This runs the port at 1g for both IPMI and normal traffic whilst the box is on, but if you use IMPI to shut the box down, the port switches to 10m. This SFP doesn’t like that, so disconnects and effectively disconnects IPMI, and to recover you need to physically power the server back on, which defeats the object of having IPMI!!It wasn’t just SuperMicro - I have a APC UPS monitoring card (AP9217) which also connects at 10/100 that doesn’t work with this SFP either.So in summary, great for 1g but I couldn’t get 10/100 to work on my Cisco SG350.

TPlink recommended a type for their own switches a TPLink duplex single core GBIC massive install and guess what they didn’t work even after threatening to sue them they admitted they wouldn’t workI fitted these single mode “WOW” 1GB network suddenly came aliveI only now buy and specify these only

Bought a couple of these recently for a mixture of Meraki and Ubiquti switches, they feel really well built and perform straight away as you would expect. Very happy and always trust 10GTek to deliver quality and fast!
