The best thing I've ever bought on Amazon
Great broiler.I got sick of having a giant 4 burner grill on my patio, so I got one of these after looking at a few others. This thing seriously rips, easily over 1000f inside. It melts my silicone grill glove ever so slightly.Burgers cook in about 60s. 1" steaks about 2m -- with a deep char on them -- perfectly pink inside. My only criticism is that I wish they gave you an extra grill grate so you can hot swap them during cooking.

I like it!
I was thinking of buying the $1600 same type of salamander infrared bbq but decided to try this one 1st. Good choice! This seem to be well built and the steaks came out great! It is 1/2 the weight of the expensive model but it's a quality bbq!

Hard to find a good Sally at this price
I just got this today, and I was excited to try it out. Pictured is my first attempt at a choice rib-eye steak. I thought it turned out pretty good, considering that I was still fiddling with it and didn't quite get it dialed in (not that there's much to dial in). I put some mushrooms in the catch tray which turned out really well too. I will test out some fish & shrimp next. The rack size is about 12" x 10" which is enough for about 2 steaks. However, note that the front 2-3 inches will not get the same amount of heat, so make sure you bias your food more towards the back for more even cooking. I like the fold-up front cover which helps to trap some of the heat in. You can't completely close the lid though, or else the fire will put itself out from a lack of airflow / oxygen. The grate grabber handle tool thingy is a bit clunky, but I hope I'll get used to it. The griddle on top seemed almost useless, considering it barely even got hot. I prefer just to use the catch tray for any simultaneous sauteing action.Restaurants tend to have salamanders / broilers lined up by the dozen, but home cooks often have to settle for the mediocre broiler built into their oven, or a handheld blowtorch. I'm glad the price is finally coming down for these home-sized versions. I'm certainly not going to pay those ridiculous prices for the Otto Wilde grill or the Northfire Inferno. Get real, guys. Yes this one's made in China, but the build quality feels good so far. There was 1 screw (8-36) where the head had too much extra material though, so I had to get an extra screw from Home Depot.

Problem solved by very excellent customer service
Update: I have upgraded my rating to 4 stars due to their customer service. Apparently Gaspro had an unfortunate staffing problem due to Covid-19 and was not able to respond to customer issues. They reached out to me by both email and via phone, were extremely apologetic and seemed genuinely concerned with my satisfaction. They provided compensation for my problem and I am completely satisfied -- they did honor their commitment to customer satisfaction.Original review: Purchased this grill a month ago. Arrived well packed. But, the ignitor is defective -- does not spark. I have to manually light the grill every time. I emailed Gaspro support several times and have yet to hear anything. I also called the phone number in the instruction manual -- their voicemail does not even identify the number as Gaspro. I had to call Amazon and they tried to contact Gaspro and had no luck. Amazon offered me a promotional discount, which I accepted. The grill is a small outdoor broiler -- very, very hot. Basically, the grill is an infrared burner that is installed in the top of the grill, facing downward -- this is what I have dreamed about doing, but I'm not very good with metal work. It does cook steak beautifully, but one at a time due to its small size (the cooking area is about 12" x 10"). The slotted walls and sliding grid design is not ideal -- if you need to flip your steak or meat, you have to pull out the grid to get to the meat and grease/fat can drip onto the open door. I can see how other grills with a grid lifting system (e.g., Otto Wilde) may be better to avoid dripping grease outside the grill. The grill comes with a cast iron griddle, but I found the griddle to not be useful. By the way, as one buyer pointed out, the instruction manual does not provide any care or operating instructions for the griddle. I found seasoning instructions on the Internet -- no problem. But, am I supposed to remove the griddle when operating the grill or leave it in? The biggest problem is that the griddle sits above the infrared burner, but the burner is facing downward and the backside of the burner does not get really hot. I tried to cook breakfast sausage patties on the griddle and barely got any sear. I followed with bacon, but it took forever to cook and I had to place bacon strips on the outer rim of the griddle where grease had pooled in order to get the bacon to crisp up. Unless you like to slow cook food on the griddle, I don't think this griddle is useful. The other problem with using the griddle is that I had to stand on either side of the grill -- the door of the grill must be left open with operating the grill and the grill gets very hot, so standing in front of the grill is not an option. The door of the grill is helpful to enclose the grill when not in use. When in use, the open door provides a little protection from grease spills if you have the grill on a table. For the price, I have to say the grill is expensive. Yes, other brands are even more pricier, but this is a lot of money for a small infrared burner that has been flipped to serve as a broiler. The cooking area is very small. The slide out grid is somewhat cumbersome. The cast iron griddle is not helpful -- perhaps a gimmick. And, ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE.I do not recommend this grill.
