If you own a trailer of any size it’s quite possible you don’t remove your wheels to grease the bearings unless you have a grease fitting that allows you to do this without removing your wheels. Many trailers don’t have this. Even then, how often do you grease your trailer wheel bearings?? Well, there is a simple and very effective way to do this. Install Bearing Buddies on each axle and they will grease your bearings for you with plenty of grease left over so you don’t have to think about it very often. If you’re wondering how to know if they are storing enough grease just pull off the rubber/plastic cap and have a look! If you need more grease just connect your grease gun to the grease fitting that is attached to the “Buddy” and stop when it’s full. It couldn’t be much easier. Installing these Bearing Buddies takes only a couple minutes with a small hammer or rubber mallet. Done! These are absolutely the best way to make sure that wheel doesn’t decide to seize up when you’re going down the highway…that would be a bad day, indeed! I have always been a fan of bearing buddies on my smaller trailers without EZ lube axles. I have these on my open car trailer and added them to my smaller utility trailer. Keeping these smaller bearings packed and happy keep them working well for a long time. A worthwile addition to any trailer.

Honestly, I am shocked how easy this installation was on my utility trailer. If you don't have a digital measurement caliper (see NEIKO 01407A Electronic Digital Caliper Measuring Tool here on Amazon) - I recommend you get one for jobs like this to get an accurate measurement of the hub. I also have a rubber mallet that I used to "press" the Bearing Buddy into my axle.(My tire shop wanted me to leave my trailer at his shop on Monday and said it would be ready by Wednesday. From start to finish (and this includes adding the bearing grease at the end) - 20 minutes tops!

Boat trailer.

I have a boat trailer and recently had to replace the old, generic grease nipple/dust caps. I ordered these Bearing Buddies and they work really well! All you need is a rubber mallet or composite hammer to remove the old ones and install these. There are lots of instructional videos on YouTube that show you the steps to do for replacement of your hub grease fitting. When these units finally fail, I would order the same thing again!

Just replacing a set on my boat trailer. Old ones are 25 plus years old. Trailer is 1990 vintage and with the bearing buddies on I have never had a problem. Decided to change the bearings and figured it was best to replace bearing buddies at the same time.

Saw the damage done when my son blew a bearing on his trailer, tapped two sets of these onto mine and worth is in convenience and peace of mind. Will still clean the bearings from time to time but know they not be running dry.
