2K Games Mafia: Definitive Edition (DELETED TITLE) /PS4

Good

I had already played Mafia 2 back on the xbox 360 and I'm finally playing the PS4 version of Mafia on a PS5 and it totally holds up! In fact, having replayed Mafia 2 since, I prefer this first game, not least of all because the controls are better in my opinion. If you haven't played any Mafia games, they're a lot like GTA (or Made Man on the PS2 if anyone remembers that one). They're open world, Criminal activities, stealing cars, gunplay, being chased by the police, etc. There's less side activities in this particular game than in GTA though, in fact I didn't really do anything outside of the missions really. There's a strong sense of narrative and a great story so you tend to go with it. Beyond the car-stealing missions, I'm not even sure what side missions there are, it's not made obvious. There's a great cast of characters though, a range of old vehicles to race around the street, a speed-limiter function for when you're trying to avoid the police (I didn't use it at first then hit a car at a junction while trying to drive an old lady to church, tried to ram them out of the way to get past and ended up rear-ending a police car and failing the mission. It was hysterically funny, but that's pretty much the first mission, so the speed-limiter is handy or I'd be getting into standoffs with the police a LOT!), a great authentic world to play in and a story I'll remember for a long time to be experienced. Just a small word of warning though: the game might be shorter than you expect, given that it's open world and how long similar games are (or even how long Mafia 3 is in comparison), you will blitz through this one quicker.

I enjoyed this game, it has a very good story. I give it 4 stars because the controls feel somewhat dated and slow. Overall it is worth playing for the good story.
