Q: Will these grip a stripper pole?

HA - I am not sure about a stripper pole, but they do have good grip in the pool.

Q: Does anyone shoes rub on the back of the ankles leaving a sore? I find with some shoes the back tends to rub against the back of the ankles.

Haven't had any problem with these. You need to hold onto the front tab so that it doesn't get tucked into the shoe but other than that these are very comfortable.

Q: Is the material thick enough to stop a stingray from penetrating the skin?

I don’t know much about stingrays, but the material is extremely thin, and it won’t be long before my toes protrude through. I’ve used them approximately 7-8 times in a pool.

Q: Hmm, are these waterproof? I need light shoes for driving scooter in the rain (in the tropics :)

They are meant to be used as water shoes. Your feet will get wet inside
