Best ever used in smoker

Well, I actually bought this at Home Depot. Decided to try and save some $ vs more expensive lump charcoal like Kamado Joe brand I had before.Well that was a mistake. My wife and kids all complained about the “awful spell” and I cannot argue.Don’t buy this stuff.

About a quarter of the volume is small pieces that will fall through your chimney starter or grill grates. I'm giving it two stars because I'm feeling generous today and because the few larger chunks that are in there do burn good and hot. I won't be buying this brand again.

If you want real BBQ flavor, this is the way to go, I grow up cooking BBQ with my father, the frontier charcoal is like the one at my home town inn Puerto Rico, the best flavor guarantee!!!

The entire bag had two decent lumps the size of a banana and the rest were marble sized. By the time you light it you have about 10 minutes of heat left. It looks like they screen the good chunks, sell it somewhere else and then bag the scraps for suckers like me.

Bought the Frontier coal to try instead of the more expensive Big Green Egg Coal. As I poured coal into grill I was happy to see good distribution of size. Unfortunately I quickly realized the biggest piece was actually a piece of rock about the size of a softball. After removing this piece which accounted for at least 3 pounds of bag, the real coal was hard to light.Back to the big green egg coal from now on!!!

This is the best lump charcoal I have used lately. There is a good distribution of piece size, not much dust, lights well, lasts long.
