WaterRower Original Series Rowing Machine with S4 Monitor

I spent ages looking at the differences between rowing machines. After finally deciding to avoid all cheap options, it was really down to a concept 2 or a Water Rower. Since it's living in my dining room, a concept 2 was out of the question. This water rower looks good and is easy to stow away and get out to use. The sound of the water is really great and helps to get into a nice stroke rate. If you close your eyes, you could imagine being on the water. It's very easy to get used to, I have no previous rowing experience - machine or otherwise. The workout is what you make of it and the supplied DVD helps you get a good technique in no time at all. It is really easy to put together as long as you read the instructions and I'm pleased to say, everything is in alignment on mine. I did spot though that the one used in the DVD is not put together properly and is obviously misaligned. So far, so good. The only down side it the supplied syphon pump to fill the water tank. It must have cost less than a pound to make and is very much a waste of plastic - it just doesn't work. Luckily, I had one for cleaning the fish tanks and that worked a charm. For the money, I'd expect a reliable way of topping up the water to be supplied. The warranty is one year. To get the 3 year parts/5 years frame extension, you have to register your product with Water Rower. Finally, the only reason I got this model is because Prime day made it less than the A1 that i had my eye on! It's a great piece of kit, I hope to get many years of use from it.

Arrived today. Amazon were awful - over a 2 week delay before they recognised my order, and then somehow omitted the assembly I had selected - however I am glad they did (and didn't charge me), as the assembly took just 40 minutes (including 15 minutes of oiling the walnut prior to constructing).I've had just the one 30 minute row so far (with a 4k rowing video on youtube), which was fantastic. This was much more comfortable and enjoyable than any high-end gym rower I have used before, and it's a work of art.5 stars for the initial impressions and first use.

It hard writing this review because i do like the rower, and it gets used at least 3 times a week.I'm just disappointed in the build quality, with parts misaligned so obviously you cant help but notice with every stroke. For the price you should expect better.Note, for me at least, the imperfections don't effect the functionality. Others have not been so lucky.

It spent a lot of time deciding if the water rower was worth the cost. One week in and I am really convinced that it is. It's a beautiful piece of kit, it's fun to use and because it can be folded away, it means that you can place it in a position where you will really use it, like the living room or the bedroom. I have used it more so far than anything else so far. And the best feature for me? It has no motor so is really quiet and it means I can use it in the evening whist watching TV, without disturbing the kids in the next room. Perfect!

Excellent Rowing Machine. Took a little while to fit together, but nce it was done the rower is nice and sturdy. the computer is fantastic, but i am still using the most basic of functions. To me, whoes fitness level is not that great at the moment, the work out given is intense. adding more or having less water in the tank varies the resistence, i have started in the middle and find it perfect. Best rowing machine i have ever used, its quiet enough to use in the back room whilst hte other half is in the front room watching telly an not disturbing her.When finished, its very simble tostand on its end and tuch away in the corner, and looks fantastic whilst there. Makess a great talking point when people are over!would recooment, and have done so to anyone who will listen.

this piece of kit is all you need to get yourself in great shape. there is little joint impact so you don't feel too sore the next day. The weightless you see is fast due to the full body workout. Assembling the item is a doddle, just go onto youtube and watch the 3D demo and pause and play etc. It took me 20 minutes to put this together and another 20 minutes to get the water in. The rower is so smooth and it feels like you are rowing in water. Display is excellent and seems accurate. Once you build yourself up to 5000m you can use the rower 3 x times a week to keep yourself trim. this unit is really fantastic and makes the concept 2 feel so industrial and prehistoric

Fantastic i purchased this over the Concept 2 and i am happy i didIts great to use and very quiet and even looks good in my front roomThe Concept 2 is very noisy and would look awful in anyones living roomNot that difficult to assemble also

A good quality piece of kit which works well to aid keep-fit for a complete amateur to rowing. Looks good and takes up little room when stored upright .Why not 5 stars -1) Understandable that a HRM is not included but you should not have to buy a separate receiver to use any of the much vaunted heart rate features of the supposedly superior S4 monitor.2) We-Row software does not exist at present - "being rewritten".... Still advertised though.... (Same with row2go?)3) Assembly instructions are clear but it is not easy to assemble. These are large pieces of wood we need to "coax" together with little tolerance.4) Re: Filling with water - The supplied Syphon Pump does not work - it is not fit for purpose. Remember the access point is directly under a beam so it is not easy! Time will tell but I am enjoying using it and think I will continue to do so (Using daily for 2 weeks) . Time will tell if it is good value for money. Serious or competitive rowers should look hard at the Concept2 though....
