WASPS BUILT NEST INSIDE OF DECOY
I wanted this to work so badly. At first, I thought it might be working since I thought I was seeing fewer wasps. BUT then... wasps built their nest right inside of the decoy! I'm so bummed. I really want to enjoy my porch without being harassed by wasps.

It seems to be working, BUT (and this is a big BUT)
It seems to be working, as I've only seen a few wasps since I hung it up on my patio a few weeks ago. Note, this is made of paper, so you want to get it in a somewhat protected spot, such as under the eaves. My 2nd floor extends about a foot out above my patio door and window, so I used a 3M hook to hang it there. Prior to hanging this, I had several wasps hanging out with me every day, for the entire afternoon. So, I'm very pleased to be rid of them. BUT (and this is a BIG BUT) , as other reviewers have mentioned, you may get an intrepid wasp who decides to set up house in it. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to buy it, but I strongly recommend taping over the openings BEFORE you hang it. I made the mistake of waiting to tape it until after the nest-building had begun. I did this on one particularly cold morning--with temps in the 40s the resident wasp was unable to fly--and just stood on a chair and carefully placed one piece of packing tape over the bottom hole*, then a couple pieces over the top. If you made the same mistake I did and need to add tape with the wasp still inside, make sure you tape the bottom hole first! I had observed this wasp entering and exiting the nest for several days, and while it would crawl inside from the top, it had a surprising method of exiting: it would drop straight down through the bottom hole, all the way to the ground, then sit there a moment as if stunned before flying off. So, I taped the bottom first in case I disturbed him and he tried to come out and attack. If you tape up (or otherwise block) the openings before placing the nest, you can avoid 7-10 days of listening to one angry wasp slamming against the side of the "decoy" nest every afternoon. That wore thin eventually, and just as I was about to research how long a wasp can survive without food and water, I found the poor thing dead. I feel kind of bad, but am leaving it there to serve as a warning to the others.

Works like a charm - if you use it the right way
By "right way" I means two things: install it before the wasps arrive, in the area where they previously were. Let me explain.Last year, wasps built a hive under the eaves at the front of our house. Not surprisingly. I received howls of resistance from the family in terms of using any sprays or chemicals to deal with it. So I had to wait until late fall (when the colony had abandoned the nest) to take it down. But I also knew wasps have a reputation of rebuilding hives in the spots where they previously were and wanted to head that off. So this spring -- before the wasps returned -- I hung one of these "fake hives" from a branch in one of the trees near the front of our house. Now, entering mid summer, I still haven't seen any wasps in the front yard area and there is no evidence whatsoever of any attempts to rebuild the hive where it was last year. Which pretty much proves this fake nest deterrent works as described, taking advantage of the fact wasps are very territorial (with a typical range of about 200 feet around the hive) and avoid areas with nests they don't recognize.I also found after clearing storm debris off the roof of my home in June that wasps were flying around one of the rooftop vents that are on the rear of our house that are fed by a shower exhaust fan. So I covered the output opening of the vent with window screening and hung the second fake nest off one of the arms of the table.umbrella that sits just below that area of the roof on our deck.Within hours, the wasps were gone off the roof and nowhere to be seen anywhere near the deck. Most importantly, I've been getting accolades for removing the nuisance in a completely non destructive and environmentally friendly way.

Great Buy. Only works if you FOLLOW the Instructions!
This is the 2nd time I've purchased this and it definately works. Unlike a particular person in another Review, you MUST read the instructions. You must make sure ALL of the Actual WASP Nests are knockec down and Gone!! This contraption will NOT WORK if you have a big @$% Wasp Nest anywhere in the vicinity. Lol (hilarious)Anyway, we've used this for over a year and although wasp randomly fly around, we have had NO Nest built at all...Love this!!! Would highly recommend!!

Actually works!!!
Hung this in late April because every May the wasps make a home under our decking. Not a SINGLE wasp and I'm sitting out on my deck now sun bathing. I've bee in my home for five years and I've never been able to sit on my deck until after dusk when they'd retreat. Such a simple solution that really helped!

Cheaper Then An Exterminator
Great product and it really works. In the past I have been plagued with wasp and yellow jacks. Last year it cost me a fortune to exterminate them out of my house basement. They had nested and ate their way in through the wood foundation. I have three hanging outside in different areas as I have a very large yard. I took the advice of a review I read and bought also the clear acrylic spray and sprayed the ones hanging outside. This prevents the rain from tearing the bamboo material that it is made from and that works also. I have actually watched all bees and wasp come and run. You have to hang it before the bees start nesting to be effective.

they are sort of pretty - I don't think my neighbors believe them to ...
This product has not produced the results I wanted yet - I still have a hornet's nest right under it, and wasps seem to still be flying around. Why the 4-star review then? A couple of things. First, they are sort of pretty - I don't think my neighbors believe them to be fake wasp nests, but rather pretty porch decorations. Second, the price is so low that I'm willing to give them another month or so and see if they prevent new nests from forming. Last, the setup took less than a minute - they come with metal holders to both hang the nest and to keep it stretched out, unlike another company's product. In addition to placing these, I was also advised to use some peppermint and lemongrass essential oils sprayed around the areas wasps and hornets frequent, so if you're in dire need of a solution and your wasp catchers can only hold so many, I would suggest that as an alternative.
