The tongs themselves are 12.25 inches long. If you close the tongs and pull the locking tab, the closed unit is about 14 inches.

Q: How does this work for flipping overstuffed grilled cheese sandwiches?

They should work fine as they are smooth and larger than most tongs.

Q: Are they good for getting food out of an air fryer?

i bought mine , mostly for using on a flat pan, for delicate items that tend to fall apart, when flipping. works great. and it is better than some of the other, cheaper ones that are out there. i did not try it with air frier, but as it has a little flex, i would gett it would be fine. not htat you have methinking, i will try it for that, next air fryer session. it is a well made tool, i am glad i finally settled on it.
