When I start making toys I take rough wood then mill it in to blanks. I design my toys to fit on certain size blanks. Lately i've been working on a smaller blank which i'm finding to work really well for little ones in strollers. My designs are really turning out pretty cool as well like this Dozer! I also like to use up as much of the wood as I can when i make toys. The plow blade on the front is scraps from another toy that I make. I use locally grown and harvested wood as much as possible in making my toys. Poplar is my favorite and is the most Eco-friendly wood indigenous to where i live. 22% of the world's forests are poplar which make it an extremely eco-friendly wood. The oak and other hardwoods i use are usually rejects from the wood working shops in the area. But because i use small pieces i can cut around most imperfections that they can't. I use folkart brand paints on the sides to give the cars and trucks a splash of color. These paints have been tested to be non - toxic. This car is about 5" by 3" by 3".
