Sound advice and life pointers with enough humor that my daughter will actually read it
My daughter is one of the many 2020 high school seniors that are dealing with a sad, disrupted senior year in which COVID-19 caused an abrupt end to her final high school year during spring break, but also has canceled (hopefully only delayed) her commencement graduation ceremony. After missing prom, time with friends she’s been to school with for years before everyone parts on different journeys, and spending months holed up in quarantine, we are determined to celebrate her graduation this weekend at home. She worked so hard for so many years and she has graduated, no matter the circumstances or lack of ceremony. The beautiful, large plaque case we got her to house and display her diploma, portrait, and tassel will only make this more sad if we give it to her empty while they decide wether or not students will be allowed to have a ceremony in August. She has a great attitude and sense of humor, and it’s been tough to see her quiet tears over the loss of what so many of us cherish in our memories of our high school senior years. So, in looking for something to give her to cheer her up and celebrate her graduation at home, I found this little gem of a book. I wish I’d gotten something like this from my mom at graduation! It is no-nonsense, sound advice with heart and plenty of humor that any 17-18 year old girl (it doesn’t really fit males) can relate to. It is exactly the advice I would love to giver her, but naturally as her mother, she would only pretend to listen if it came from me. Every mom should give this to their daughter at graduation.

Made my granddaughter laugh...and that's a good thing!
I had this book sent to my granddaughter for a high school graduation gift. I explained, to my daughter, that the title of the book might sound "harsh" but that it's advice given in a "perspective of a mother to daughter", and in this case "grandmother to granddaughter"...(I didn't want my daughter thinking it was a "threatening book"...LOL) Anyway, my granddaughter loves it and I think my daughter is glad that the book is taking on areas she has not dwelled into with her daughter...since I think of myself as the humorous (but strict) grandmother I tease my daughter to send me my granddaughter so I can make sure she has learned to do things most girls do not realize they need to do "on their own" when they leave home...So glad I put some real life experience, in book form, to my granddaughter, to help her out in life in a way I wished I had given to my own daughters before they left to go out on their own. I would surely give this book a 20+ on a scale of 1 (being lowest) to 10 (being highest rating)!!!

Great graduation gift
This is a wonderful graduation gift to give a girl who is going off to college. It is full of practical advice but it’s funny too. I like to give it with the laundry basket laundry detergent and fabric softener.

Purchased for a graduation gift. Nice little book. More references to the US than Canada but still some good advice that is universal.
