Amazing sound!
OK, I am not leaving feedbacks often on Amazom, but in this case I will! The headphone are simply amazing! Comparing them to my ATH-M50X headphones, the sound of MSR7b is on another level, especially if you use the balanced cable, you don't get anymore the muddy sound of the M50X's, actually not just you don't get, you do get way better and clearer sound. I got them hooked to my Ifi Zen Dac, which has balanced output, the sound is so clear, really crisp and detailed treble, the mids are crisp too, the bass is lacking behind tho compared to M50X, but if you got good DAC/AMP you can EQ it and have your bass smashing your ears, just bare in mind, if you hook these to a phone, you might not get the desired bass if you are basshead. When you EQ the headphones I would say the bass is as punchy, but more clear than the one on M50X's with a bit flatter EQ, the subbass is not on the level of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80ohm, but it is close, also it can hadle amplification without getting distorted. I had the DT 770 Pro's, they have really good soundstage and subbass, the mids and treble are not on the level of MSR7b's, got them returned because they were giving me pain in the years from the pressure on my eardrum, that was not even on high volume and the bass was distorting too early before I even had a chance to crank the volume up properly, ridiculous. The soundstage of the MSR7b's, with the balanced cable is really good, I would say almost on the level of the DT 770 Pro's, with that difference the sound clarity of the MSR7b's is better imo. The headphone sound really good with the normal 3.5mm cable, don't get me wrong, the balanced cable give you the same sound with a bit more clarity and better soundstage than the normal one. Personally I don't mind the proprietary cable connectors on these headphones, I can live with that as long as I get this sound. About the comfort... These are really confortable and light, there is no pressure on my head and I can wear these long time without getting fatigued. So yeah, these are my number 1 favorite headphones at the moment, I would say these are the best headphones under 200 pounds hands down!Hope I was helpful.Cheers

Beautiful Sound.
I did a lot of research before I chose these. Starting with the sound: These headphones are closed-backed but still sound airy and detailed so perfect for listening without sound-leakage. There is a good feeling of spaciousness in the presentation that has been lacking with other closed-backed designs I have owned. There is enough extension in both the low and high frequencies and the sound is not fatiguing. It is smooth but not scooped out at the mids. The word “neutral” sounds boring so I will use the term “correct” instead and I run them with flat EQ! That’s my clinical description of the sound, another word I would use is beautiful as they are a joy to listen to. Audiophile quality on a budget.Build quality and comfort: These “b” versions have been made lighter and not so tight on your ears. I can’t comment on the previous incarnation but the b version is incredibly comfortable without too much heat being generated in the cups. I can wear them for hours. The headband is adjustable and the cans rotate flat for storage. Overall they feel sturdy enough without being bulky.Negatives: Nothing wrong with the headphones at all but the storage bag supplied is not much use. It offers some protection but it flaps open slightly and you need to unplug the lead from the cans every time. I would rather not unplug the lead to keep the connection tight so I’m storing mine in a neoprene 10 inch tablet zip around case which is more roomy.Without a doubt these are the best headphones I have ever owned and are worth every penny. Five stars even with the case! Delivery and packaging were spot on. Excellent seller, consistent.

Overall I'm very happy with these headphones and would recommend them - just give them chance!
I've been listening with the ATH-MSR7b for about a month and have been impressed so far.Although at first I found the sound to be too much treble and lacking bass, after some burn in time (and maybe my ears getting used to the sound signature), I'm now finding that these are a good clear sounding pair of headphones with a detailed bass when the music requires, (ie it's not overpowering like with some headphones) and very good vocals. Instruments all sound clear and separated too. These sound good with all sources I've tried (DAP, phone, PS4 pad), but one of the best things I've found pairing these headphones with the Hiby R5 DAP is how well the MSR7b's respond to changes in the R5's MSEB settings - for example when I want a bit of a darker sound (when I'm on a bus for example), I just adjust the relevant MSEB setting and the headphones respond extremely well, without distorting the sound in a negative way.The only couple of minor negatives I found with these headphones is that they don't block out much background noise, so sat at the back of a bus with a loud rumbling engine means that a lot of the sub-bass is lost and the headphones display a lot more treble (although this can be overcame with the use of an equaliser), and the position of the headphones on/over the ear can affect the sound quite a bit too (it took me a while to work out the optimal position on my ears).I also tried the Sony MDR-1AM2 (similar price range, also came with a 4.4mm balanced cable), but I found the sound of these to be overly emphasised in terms of bass (they rumbled!) and to my ears some of the tonality didn't sound quite right in places.

Impressive...
Impressive headphones for the price, the clarity is what immediately hits you on first listening. Rim shots, claps, symbols and female vocals really stand out but never harshly. The bass is also not missing as some have suggested, used with iFi ZenDac and ZenCan combo, they really do create some great punch and speed. I find them comfortable too, allowing for multiple hour sessions without fatigue, with just the right amount of clamping force. I have much more expensive headphones in my collection but still I find the ATH-MSR7b very fun and engaging. You will be surprised what extra detail you hear in songs you have listened to for years, recommended.

Nice!
Was after a pair of the special edition version of these but never managed to buy them. Then these came out and the day I went to order them they had gone down in price by around £20.Nice sound quality, detailed, no boomy overpowering bass, playing music through an SMSL M6 connected to an original Musical Fidelity X-CANS headphone amp. Also sound good through my Sony NW-ZX100 DAP + Topping NX4 (non DSD version)
