Charging is quick and easy!
I ordered this charging station at 3pm and it arrived the following day! I did pay for 2 day shipping but would use standard the next time. This charger was easy to hook up and works amazing. My Leaf charges up in about 5 hours! It also looks pretty good in my garage. Buy it, you will be happy with the purchase.

Not durable under normal use, repairs expensive
I loved the charger for the first six months I owned it. Recently, I fumbled the cable while trying to plug it in in the dark. The fall from waist height to the driveway broke the black tip from the charging plug. When I contacted AeroVironment, I discovered that the damage was not covered under warranty because of "misuse". (It seems somewhat unreasonable to me that the device can't survive a fall from that height.) Further, repairing the broken plug requires a replacement of the entire charging cable, at a cost of $375. (More than half the cost of the entire unit!)Very disappointed, and I'd steer far clear of these models if you're purchasing for an installation you intend for public use. The charging plug does not seem well made and is a very expensive repair.

It's big compared to others. Charges my car fast
Installed this Charger a week ago. Hard wired into my panel. Instructions are a little difficult and instillation by an electrician seems like a must. The item itself if BIG. I'm not sure I was expecting to be sticking out of my wall so much. It seems to work fine, just shocked at how it pertrudes from the wall.

Easy install. no problems
Nice to have the extra cord length, since my Leaf is parked in the driveway, not the garage. Unit was extremely easy to install and appears very durable. Works reliably with no faults. This genre of units from all manufacturers are horribly overpriced but at least tax deductible.2 year addendum. I now have over 500 charge cycles on this unit with a Nissan Leaf (6.6kw car charger) in all sorts of weather. Charge unit is mounted inside the garage but the vehicle is charged in the driveway - outside. Not a single problem - no failures - no issues. The other 500 charge cycles have been at work using a commercial Chargepoint connection. This unit is just a teeny bit quicker than Chargepoint - about 15 minutes faster to an 80% charge.

It works okay as a charger, but it keeps ...
It works okay as a charger, but it keeps loosing the wifi connections. Once a week I have to cycle the breaker and re-connect it to my wifi. It will not store my home wifi password and automatically re-connect when it decides to go offline.

Charges my Volt perfectly
My electrician was able to install this charger very easily. The cord is quite long so accommodates my driveway with tandem parking. I use it to charge my Chevy Volt. It was a lot cheaper than the cheap GE product that Chevy referred me to after getting my own installation. If you have a washer/dryer nearby then it will be easy to access the 240V. Very happy and it also is fully sealed in the rain. Highly recommended.

Melted Relay, Fire Hazard
After 1 year the internal relay melted. I called customer service and they indicated that "yes we have seen this before" but "to be honest we have never replaced a unit because of this under warranty" he went on to blame it on a loose connection the connections that failed were the main power cord to the vehicle and were installed last and were certainly tight. This is not just a poor product, this is a fire hazard. At this point if you own this product check these connections now. Aeroenvironment "these units are shipped all over the world, when you install the unit you need to tighten ALL connections" what bs. I am a proud Ford owner but shame on Ford for choosing such a poor company to build their chargers with such disrespectful employees.

Works, but reliability issues
I would avoid AeroVironment's charging station. I have one and my charging station is 11 months old now; it fails about once a week, sometimes more often. By "fails" I mean vehicle charging stops and the trouble light illuminates. The charging station trouble light can only be reset manually by cutting off the circuit breaker to the unit (hopefully you've installed one near the charging station, otherwise you'll have to go to the panel box). This is annoying when this happens during overnight charging cycles and the vehicle doesn't get charged. Big unpleasant surprise in the morning. Despite repeated calls to AV and promises from them, nothing has been resolved to date.I know others have had good luck...that hasn't been my experience. And, my charging station was professionally installed through the vehicle manufacturer's ordering website.PROS:same unit used by vehicle manufacturer dealerships, at least in Central OhioAV was recommended by vehicle manufacturer's ordering website as preferred supplierCONS:unreliable, in my experience, as I described aboveexpensive vs. alternativesserial number (necessary for warranty work) is located on a label affixed to the bottom of the unit, and is printed in a font requiring a scanning electron microscope to read.
