Learn to Tat (Book & DVD)

The book is very well done with professional quality pictures. They are clear and large enough to see what you need to do. It is a good supplement to the DVD. Having a DVD to go along with the book is very important for me. You really need to see the hand movements to understand what to do. The DVD is well done with clear close ups and a good professional voice. She takes her time when she talks and with the hand movements, which makes it easy to follow her. It's a good book to get you started on tatting. For some of the more complicated things, I had to supplement my learning by going to the internet and youtube. You will definitely learn how to tat with this book. Yes, I found a typo and some errors in this book, but I did learn how to tat in spite of that. It's a good book. I have not bought any other learn to tat books, so I can't compare it to other books. There may be better ones out there (or worse), I don't know.

This is a super book/video for anyone wanting to learn to shuttle tat. I originally learned/improved my technique, have loaned it to friends who have expressed an interest in tatting, and have also given it as a gift more than once.

When I first saw this book available, I was excited, so I ordered it. I waited at least a week, and finally it came to me by UPS. I opened the package carefully, and removed the dvd from envelope in the middle of the book. I tried several times to play it, but it wouldn't work. I examined its surface, and there didn't seem to be any scratches on it, but along the edge of the disc there was a little chipping.The book itself is fine and easy to read, but still I need to see things done hands on.I notified the seller, and they ordered another one for me. I waited another week or so, and it finally came. I was happy that they took care of it so promptly, and couldn't wait to view it. The problem is it also did not work, so then I tried it in my computer, which plays dvds. It wouldn't work there either. I don't know why it's not working. It says Disc is unplayable or something like that.I notified this seller again. I am afraid to get anymore replacements, because now I will have to wait even longer, and honestly I am afraid it's not going to work.

I decided to learn how to tat after years of crocheting. Tatting requires patience to learn. There is a high learning curve. It took me a while to learn how to make the double stitch. This book was helpful, especially the accompanying DVD. You can learn to crochet by following written instructions. With tatting, you definitely need the visual assistance. Having the written information as well as the DVD helped tremendously. If you watch the DVD and follow it step-by-step, you will learn. Once you learn the basic stitch and start tatting, you can pick up additional tips through the numerous videos on the subject on You Tube.

Step by step illustrations. Many tutorials lack the small details that are very important. You have to read between the lines. Some unorthodox instructions could make it easier for people like me with arthritis on my fingers. Maybe someone could put out a tutorial addressing the arthritis issues.

I'm just giving the book a 4 star rating because I've not yet attempted Tatting. I missed or forgot that there is an instruction CD included, which is a nice bonus! I'm excited and looking forward to learning how to Tat.

Refresher. I learned tatting 65 years ago. Modern folk may not be aware of the delicacy. Persevere. This and the right thread and shuttle will have you making true heirloom quality lace in a short time.

My wife wanted to try tatting so I bought this for her. Lesson 1 taught her that tatting was a lot harder than she thought. The book and dvd do a great job of taking you thru the steps of tatting. If you have nimble fingers and infinite patience then tatting is for you and this combination book/dvd will get you headed in the right direction with clear, concise instructions.

The media could not be loaded.  If you are a begginer, very newbie in Tatting, this book/magazine is for you, because besides de instructions of how to do it the basic sts, there are a few works to do there, and soon I'll insert the pics of my work.The book/magazine came very well packed and don't be milead to believe that because is a thin book/magazine there is not so much content, cause there is, including the DVD, another amazing tool for learning.

A mi no me ha servido a pesar de estar muy bien explicado .... si se pudiese ver algo... en los kioskos te dejan ojearlas y ahi si k va bien comprar xk sabes si te interesa o no el problema es k no se encuentran revistas de frivolite

Veloci e pratiche le spiegazioni senza inutili chiacchiere, arriva subito al punto.Facile da capire anche per chi parla poco inglese. Buone le illustrazioni.

本当に初期中の初期の教本です。基本テクニックの説明だけなら、日本で作成された本の方が親切かもしれません。ただ、海外の図案が読めるようになりたい方には、勉強のとっかかりとしてはいいかもしれません。デザインに目新しいものはありません。私はがっかりしました。DVDは貴重かもしれませんが、編める方には不要ですね。
