Pricey but works as advertised
Two reasons I didn't give it a five star rating is it seems awfully expensive for what it does and I wish the 240VAC plug cord was a few inches longer. The 25 foot charging cord is of good quality and it reaches to the front of my LEAF with no problem even though the AeroVironment Plug-In Residential EV Charger is mounted by the main garage door rather than in front of the LEAF. It was easier and cheaper to run the 240VAC outlet wiring to the garage door wall than the wall in front of the car due to the location of the breaker box so that's why we chose this model rather than the 15 foot cord model.I just wished the indicator light operation was different. Perhaps the "Vehicle Charging" indicator should flash when charging and turn steady on when car is charged.I bought some plastic cable covering (Lowe's IDEAL 1-in diameter x 60-in long Black Cord Cover #772242L) to put over the cord to protect it from abrasion and other damage from dragging across the concrete garage floor; just wish they had a 20 to 25 foot long piece instead of buying four 5' lengths and taping them together.

Excellent charging station for a portable solution
I love this charging station. The electrician was able to use the included mounting template to position it perfectly for our wiring in the garage. I spent the extra money getting this version with the plug so that I can bring it with us if we move to another house. It looks good in the garage, the status lights are very easy to see from a distance and know what's going on, and the connector is very easy to connect and disconnect from my EV.The only reason I'm giving it four stars is that it would be nice to be able to track how much energy is used during charging. I'll have to guess based on monthly bills how much I'm using for my car.But overall, I'm totally happy with the station!

Works Great!
I looked for a level 2 charger almost from the time I bought my C Max Energi in April. I did have to have an licensed electrician install a 220 volt 40 amp outlet first, but I finally settled on the AeroVironment. The reviews indicated that this was the most trouble free charger available, and it was very easy to mount on the garage wall and plug in. I ended up buying a more expensive version of this charger because I wanted the 25' cord. Ordinarily the charger is less than 5' from where I park the car in the garage, but in the summer I will probably leave the car outside at night (to allow room for a somewhat older Ford) and I need a 25' cord to reach where the car will be parked.The charger xhas worked flawlessly, and it reduces the charging time from 7 hours (using the factory supplied Level 1 charger) to 2 1/2 hours or less.Based on my experiences, I would highly recommend this charger.

Well made and working great!
The AeroVironment EVSE Plug-In is working great! It was easy to install and mount ... according to the electrician that did it, and it looked easy to me, too. Installation instructions and template were easy to follow and use. The coupler-plug itself -- when inserting into the charging port on my 2013 Ford C-Max Energi -- is a very tight fit, a lot more so than any of the other brands that I've used at public charging stations, and tighter than another AeroVironment charger at a public charging station in Massachusetts. The 25' cord is a lot to store on the cord hanger; I'm considering ordering a second cord hanger to mount upside down below the upper hanger to allow the excess cord to be wrapped around both -- much like a vacuum cleaner cord.

Works great, easy to install
This EVSE works perfectly with my 2012 Nissan LEAF. I installed the outlet for it myself and then just plugged this in when it arrived -- although, a word of warning, you probably don't want to do it like that. Wait for this to arrive before installing an outlet, because the included template shows you good places to put the outlet -- mine was actually a little bit too close. The cord is very short and very stiff, so the valid locations for the outlet are limited.My only complaint is that these things are so expensive. Considering what it does: When it gets an appropriate signal from the car, it turns on the AC current in the cable. It doesn't seem like there's a thousand dollars worth of technology here.

Lovely charger for our Leaf
Our previous charger (4 years old) died after moving it to our new home. Looked for something smaller and simpler as we did not use the previous wifi capability. This one is perfect, it plugged right into our 220 outlet and had a long enough cord to charge the car in or out of the garage. It has an easy to understand light system and shuts off when the car is fully charged. We use the delay charge timer in our Leaf to control when it starts charging if we want to wait until off-peak hours. Very satisfied with our purchase and will update this review if anything changes.

Great product! Perfect charging station for our Leaf.
Outstanding product! We chose the plug in version and hired an electrician to install the outlet after our charging station arrived. Our electrician installed the "welding" outlet in our garage close to a stud so the outlet cord would reach where the charging unit needed to be mounted. My husband installed the mounting bracket for the charger in about an hour and it looks similar to the units at the Nissan Dealer. Delivery only took 3-4 days and we definitely recommend waiting to install the outlet until the charger arrives to make sure the outlet is positioned close enough to a stud. We love the charging station almost as much as our Leaf!.....My wife wrote the previous paragraph. I agree with what she says except I would rather give it a few months and see how it performs.

Been working perfectly for over four years now. We now use on on a 2017 Leaf and 2016 CMAX Energi. Never had any issues with it.
It has worked for over a year now. I just replaced the 220 dryer socket with the correct NMEA socket and plugged it in. I have never had a single problem with either my Ford Focus Electric or my Nissan Leaf.Installation was a snap if you have the right plug. If not you need to know 220 or hire an electrician and maybe get a permit. Check you local laws.A full charge on the leaf went from 20 hour to less than 4 hours. 2.5 hours on the Ford Focus Electric.

Works as expected. I installed this in my garage for convenience, but for those who want to install outside and expect the locking mechanism to keep thieves at bay... know that there is only a fragile piece of plastic that stops a robber from taking it off.

Save time... and that’s saving money.
My Chevy Volt charged in just over 4 hours - sometimes less which is a huge improvement over the 13-14 hours it takes with the 110 volt charger. Time is worth the investment. Added to the fact I can use the same plug to charge my RV when it’s in the driveway and it’s a great buy.

Good cable and connector.
The cable is very good even in sub zero weather it's still decently flexible. Just be careful not to twist it up too much, always untangle it.
