...because I realize that the mattress will change as time goes on.Purchased this mattress on hope and a prayer because there is no way to test it out before buying over the internet and THERE IS NO RETURN on this size (King) mattress. So based on the many great reviews we decided to pull the trigger on this mattress.Chuck contacted me via e-mail and I told him that my wife and I had been shopping at brick and mortar stores and found that we liked the feel of the "Sealy Posturepedic Plush" He replied that "would be comparable to the 6 on our scale." So a number 6 it is.The mattress arrived very quickly, well packaged, and with no damage. We unwrapped it that afternoon and was impressed with the workmanship and quality of materials. We slept on it that night -no odor to report- and while it was a great improvement on our old mattress, it was not equivalent to the Sealy; it was too firm. We have slept on it now for only 4 days, but it seems to be getting more firm; so much so that my wife said to look into a topper if it doesn't improve.At this point we are going to wait and see. It may soften up a bit, or we may decide we like the firmness after-all; but it is not equivalent to the Sealy Posturepedic Plush......yet....I'm thinking a 7 or an 8 may have been more to our liking but we'll wait and see. I may up my rating later if it seems appropriate.I'll report again after 30 days.July 5th- It has now been about a month since we have started sleeping on this mattress and I am becoming somewhat more accustomed to the firmness. My wife though, not so much. I really think a 7 or an 8 would have been much more to our liking. It's still a really good value, but to be as pleased as you can be, you should really consider that the default number "6" that most people choose is really pretty firm.

I purchased this mattress last year when my [then] fiance and I had registered for all new king bedding (we both had queens beds prior.) I research nearly every consumer product I purchase with depth and thoroughness being directly proportional to the overall investment in the item, i.e. cost. I had narrowed down the search to latex foam in the beginning but with these ranging upwards of $5k for a king mattress set, I was initially discouraged. When I bought the Ultimate Dreams king mattress on Amazon there were only about 20 reviews out so I considered it a HUGE gamble. Well, turns out this has been on the most successful gambles I've made because both my [now] wife and I LOVE this mattress.I am not a "picky" sleeper. I know I prefer firm to soft on account of back support but other than that, when it's dark, I have no trouble sleeping. My wife, on the other hand, appears to be a "hot" sleeper, a "light" sleeper and basically any other type of problematic sleeper. She loves this mattress to no end.We both travel extensively for our respective careers so we experience all types of mattresses, even in high-end hotels, but nothing compares to "our" bed. We both sleep well-supported and comfortable in terms of temperature (now having experienced all 4 Georgia seasons with this mattress.)I would definitely recommend investing in a quality support for the mattress (we happened to buy the name-brand Tempurpedic king foundation (two-twin)) since it was not very expensive.

This is the best mattress I have ever owned. Its truly remarkable to watch it unfold before your eyes when you open the packaging. Be forewarned-I bought a Kingsize mattress and thankfully had the foresight to open what looked like a small box on my box spring. By the time it opened, relaxed and took shape-it was a huge and heavy king size mattress. Not sure I would have been able to manage on my own. Still trying to figure out how they get the mattress wedged in the box! Anyway, you won't sleep on a better mattress. I can't stop raving out this bed. So much so, that Ive steered several friends to this site to buy a bed after seeing mine. No-one has been disappointed yet.Shipping and customer service is second to none. I gotta say I was very apprehensive about buying a king bed online but talking with the guys and sleeping on it made me a lifelong customer. What could be easier than this?

I didn't want to go the regular route in purchasing my new mattress. I really had enough of the store bought brands and games salespeople play. Pillow-top this and memory foam that - you really need to be informed about what you are buying and what you need (ie: what type of sleeper you are, your weight, etc.) What the advertising says and what's the truth about comfort and quality are two entirely different things. That being said, my requirements were a comfortable mattress at a reasonable price and I wanted to get something with little to no chemical emissions. I researched everything very carefully and referred to Mattress Underground continually (I highly recommend MU - you will get a great mattress education - Phoenix knows his stuff.) There really are a lot of good alternative companies out there making great products. I decided I really wanted a latex mattress for the comfort and support so I researched this extensively. After consideration I decided to go with Ultimate Dreams and after one month of sleeping on this I can honestly tell you this is the best mattress I have ever purchased. Chuck at UD is very helpful and knowledgeable. Personally I am a side sleeper and I went with the standard firmness of 6 which has worked out great. I cannot speak for the other firmness levels but Chuck will give you guidance based upon how you sleep. Just to be clear I didn't skimp on my bed either - I purchased a high quality wood king bed which wasn't cheap but worth every penny. Also most mattress companies will not have the support/box spring which you have to get separately. With a latex rubber mattress you want good support so I did the research and also purchased a foundation through Amazon (see my other review for the foundation.) Overall I rate my experience with Ultimate Dreams as excellent and highly recommended. Do your research and believe me you won't be disappointed if you know what you want and are confident with your knowledge.
