The Beauty Insider: Effortless Skincare and Beauty Advice that Works

A good book for anyone young or old who's just getting started in a proper skincare regime.However I haven't read anything new that I didn't already know as I'm not a youngster and have used quality skincare for the past 20 years and there's loads of advice and knowledge widely available on the internet. I must admit to rolling my eyes at the advice to brush your hair to make yourself feel better. It comes across as a bit preachy at times...don't drink alcohol, save it for special occasions, don't get fillers as you can't say no if your child wants a boob job or a nose job! What utter nonsense!Would be better if the book stuck solely to beauty and perhaps leave the parental advice and judgement out of the sequel.

This book delivered exactly what I expected from Alison Young whose beauty advice and tips (on QVC) have been tried and tested by myself for 25 years - I am now 48. Alison’s honest and expert advice has served me well over the years and this book is an encyclopaedia of advice, organised well throughout, making it easy to find relevant sections if you wish to dip in and out (as I know I will). Not only will my mature skin benefit from this book, my teenage daughters and (even) my husband will benefit from Alison’s wisdom too. An amazing book, cleverly written as the advice will never date due to the fact that product brands or not mentioned or endorsed. Thank you Alison for sharing your advice and putting this book together, now I have all your wonderful beauty advice in one place that I can refer to over and over again.

As a regular QVC viewer (where Alison Young regularly works & shares her knowledge) I sort of already knew most of the content. The book is not a glossy read, as unike most beauty books, there are no lovely photos to illustrate & inspire the reader. For a novice person interesested in beauty, this may be an interesting read. For the more advanced customer, this is probably not the best book to expand your knowledge. I was thinking of buying another copy as a Xmas present, but feel this lack-lustre book, with it's very basic diagrams & slightly yellowish pages doesn't hit the mark.

Almost finished and very much enjoyed the book. Some calm in Covid stress. Was quite taken aback to see aloe recommended several times. I have had a very bad allergic reaction to it and almost went to hospital. Very swollen head and face and neck. Eyes and ears swollen shut. Google aloe allergies and I'm not alone. Other than that I very much enjoyed the book. Some very useful advice that I'd not heard before. Very much loved her down to earth attitude about beauty and self care

This book gives so much information, it tells you how to use the products you have rather than buying new products, and use products at the back of your cupboard. Sensible down to earth advice. Love the way the books written and enjoying dipping in and out for beauty advice. A lovely gift for someone who enjoys Beauty.Thanks Amanda
