Best TV we've ever owned. Be sure to have it professionally calibrated.
This is by far the best TV we've ever owned. it's now been in our home about 7 months and I still remark at least weekly on the quality of the picture. It just looks lifelike.Out of the box, the picture was good but not great. I attempted a few setting changes but quickly saw I could be spending days messing with it and never getting it right. Instead, we called BestBuy and paid for their calibration service ($250 for a one-time visit, $49 if subscribed to GeekSquad). They came out with several thousands worth equipment that no home user would ever be able to justify. it took about 30 mins, but when done, the picture was perfect. Bright areas are bright but not blown out. Blacks are totally black. Subtle dark areas like moonlight on skin is very subtly lit. Colors look exactly right all the time. Better than anything I've ever seen. The WebOS software is extremely good too. It eliminates the need for a Roku or any other box. We use a combination of YouTube TV, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Plex, etc. All work flawlessly and the remote makes access quick and intuivitive.I can not speak to sound quality as we output the sound to a Sonos Arc bar, sub, and 2 surrounds. It decodes into Dolby Atmos and sounds extremely good. All in all, we could not be happier with this purchase. And we were long time Sony buyers. Prior to purchasing this TV, we tried the Sony XBR-77A9G. Picture was never right -- and that's after BestBuy calibrating it just like this one. The software interface was bad to the point we just used the Roku. After weeks of frustration and pictures that just look badly artificial, we returned it and bought this one. Couldn't be happier.

Excellent television
I needed a replacement for an older plasma television that got a section of it that stopped working. It feels like you have to study a degree just to figure out which TV to purchase. This TV is excellent in all the areas. It has multiple inputs as often TVs have reasonable specifications but do not have enough inputs. No one wants to be plugging out and in things every 2 seconds. I have an Amazon firestick connected which works seamlessly. I have a Nintendo Switch that gets connected, a Xbox 360 that works well on it and more recently my newer Xbox Series X which looks stunning. I have an internet TV box from my internet provider that also works well on it. I can link it with my computer and display games over there. I can cast my phone audio or video to my TV.It is very thin, I have mine mounted and it can go flat against the wall. It updates frequently and I have no issues with how it functions. It even displays DVDs through a player for those who still have those. I love the almost bezel-less appearance. The sound is great, there is a very slight delay between my TV and the soundbar that I bought so we usually use 1 or the other. The native sound from the TV is great though. The video quality is exceptional and it shows everything extremely well.

Truly astonishing; recommended picture settings
I now fully understand the accolades this TV has earned. It truly is spectacular. With a good signal source there isn't a better unit. There are myriad fine tuning adjustments and picture settings you can play with to get the screen looking just the way you want in your room with its unique lighting conditions. Whites are pure white and blacks are absolutely inky just as you might expect from an OLED set. I hate to be redundant but this set really can only be described in one word - - stunning.A couple of nitpicks and other observations. The audio through the built-in speakers has been referred to as decent or even pretty good. It's not! It's tinny and thin sounding. You'll definitely want to get a nice soundbar. Which brings up the next issue. The base of this unit only raises it off the surface about 1.5" which means any soundbar you'll want to place in front of it will obscure an inch or two of the bottom of the screen. I put my Yamaha soundbar on a shelf below the one supporting the TV for this reason. But you'll need to consider this if you intend to put your soundbar in front of the TV. The base of the TV is ludicrously heavy. I'd estimate that this one piece alone weighs over 20 lbs. This makes the overall TV extremely heavy to lift once it's attached. Definitely a two person job. And be very careful because the screen itself is very, very thin. Finally, the so-called "magic remote" is cheap looking and feeling. A TV of this prodigious quality definitely deserves a higher quality remote. The good news is that most people use an integrated remote usually from their cable provider so that other than using the remote to set up the TV, you'll probably not need to use it too frequently after you tweak things to your liking. So all in all the negatives are really minor and inconsequential while the positives are simply astonishing. If you're in the market for a state of the art TV experience this is the best TV you'll ever find. It really is that good. For anyone looking for settings that provide a pleasing picture let me share what I'm using on SD material.Picture mode - ISF Expert (bright room)Energy Saving - offOLED Light - 75Contrast - 91Brightness - 50Sharpness - 10Color - 56Tint - 0Dynamic Contrast - lowSuper Resolution - offColor Gamut - autoGamma - 2.2White Balance - warm 1Peak Brightness - mediumNoise reduction, MPEG noise reduction, smooth gradation, motion eye care, TruMotion - all offReal Cinema - onBlack level - autoAI services - all offWhile these settings are always subjective and what pleases you is what really matters I hope this will help you dial in settings that tease out the incredible picture quality this set is capable of. CX 77"
I have had CX 77 inch for about 2 weeks now. My main use for this TV is connecting with PC for occasional movies and gaming. I have not hooked up to AV receiver so I use the internal TV speakers for sound. For physical appearance and build quality, this TV gets top score. Minimalistic design with a solid rigid metal plate covering the rear side of the panel speak volumes in a quality department.Picture quality is top notch. Very good colour right out of box. You will get some unevenness with screen uniformity (google it if you don't know what it is) but mine is relatively clean to my eyes and certainly not a problem watching a normal content.WebOS is joy to use and swiching tv apps to hdmi inputs and vice versa is easy and seamless. Apps load and function pretty snappy.Sound from this tv is pretty good. In my opinion, it should meet average listeners need but if you are demanding audiophile or have a concert hall, you might want to use dedicated HT systemSome cons.Stand. Although it does the job, but the tv wobbles when you touch it. But it is there for viewing not touching. This can be pro for some, but it has very complicated picture control. If you want to calibrate this tv to fine tune a picture accuracy then you need to hire a professional calibrator to do the job. Or buy tools and DIY.Reflection is real but it will be only problem if cannot stand it or your space has many light sources. In my living space where it has large windows, doesn't bother me too much.Burn in. I guess burn in can happen, but the tv comes with some excellent tools to combat this risks. I have not noticed any IR or burnins with my set so far, but I don't worry about it. I tend to baby things at beginning but TV is meant to be used and after few years I won't care about it anyways

The best TV I've ever had in my life
I've always been hesitant to purchase an OLED TV due to burn in issues, but this TV is too good to pass up for that.Picture quality is soooo good with blacks being pure black on OLED, and HDR contents finally look the way they are supposed to be. Dolby Vision makes it just unbelievably gorgeous to look at the scenes from the shows that support it.Sound quality is also pretty good, but I live in a studio about 7~8 feet away from the TV so take that into consideration. I don't have complaints about its bass or treble with its speakers as I'm not an audiophile with gold cables connected to speakers.Using the apps with WebOS is also straight forward and no manual is needed to install or uninstall them.Overall, this TV will leave anyone satisfied with it as long as you don't let it burn in by watching content with static images on the screen for too long. (news channels with logos or bars, sports games with scoreboards, youtube 10 hours of music with static image)

Absolutely Brilliant TV
Using it as a monitor for my PC. I was a bit apprehensive about getting something this big as a monitor but after a few weeks - it becomes normal (having a height adjustable desk does help) and an unbeatable experience. Cannot go back.Picture quality - cannot be beaten - true black and vivid colors. Makes my SONY LED 75" 900H TV look like its a piece of crap. As far as burn in goes - LG has some built in features like logo shift etc. that sort of minimize the risk of getting burn in. Honestly - for most people it won't be an issue (see YouTube videos for more information)

GOOD QUALITY WORTH THE MONEY
This tv takes my breath away. This is my first OLED TV and I am in love. Its everything I wanted when it comes to watching tv shows or movies. To get that life like image and for it to be more realistic set it on smooth for truemotion you would be mind blown. I literally watch The Shallows and it is just in HD and this tv shows the video super crystal clear even when the scene is under water just wow. I highly recommend to go on YouTube and look up settings for Dolby Version and HDR but remember to actually watch a Dolby Version content to set up Dolby Version settings etc. I notice a huge difference in game mode and it's awesome. Super bright than my old RCA 4K tv which isn't close to the movies or shows being realistic. I would highly recommend this tv to a friend or anyone. And oh btw the volume for this tv is insane when you turn on Dolby Atmos at volume 12 is loud. I'm very impressed with this tv I already have a LG phone so to have a LG Tv is a bonus. You won't be disappointed. And I rarely write reviews that's to tell you how much I had to give my input on how much I love this tv. Queen LG CX.An Update: My tv is still doing great. No Burn in whatsoever. What I love about this tv also is the pixel refreshes when your not using the tv and its turned off.Another update: My tv is still in excellent working condition as of August 4th 2023. Brought tv in 2021.

High picture quality, but also high price
Maybe my expectations were too high, but this TV did not wow me. For something that costs nearly twice as much as a standard LED, it's definitely not twice as good. Still, it's a very good TV and I'm satisfied with it.
