Comprehensive book on treating fibromyalgia
Easily a 5-star book. Well researched with over 180 references. Great information that you will not hear from your doctor. Only wish I had this book when I was first diagnosed 17 years ago. Great resource for anyone looking to heal rather than just medicate themselves. Very easy read without too much medical jargon. Tone is inspirational and gives hope to the reader. Recommend you start with this book if you want to learn practical tips on flourishing with fibromyalgia.

Excellent but
Even though there are many helpful insights I wonder how people cope with fibromyalgia and all the helps recommended in the book when they are also dealing with other health issues and being a caregiver at the same time. So much of the book is very good and relevant but I read it and look at my life which has a way more difficult pieces to it right now than just fibromyalgia and wonder if I can really put into effect some of the helps provided. I would guess others are in the same situation.

This book is packed with the holistic wellness that fights pain
As a holistic wellness coach and nutrition specialist, I have to say this book goes in-depth and the author really knows what she is talking about. This book is so much more than pain management this book can lead you into the direction of healing or reducing. I was impressed by the mindfulness eating, sleep strategies, and the nutritional information is very detailed. If you have Fibromyalgia, you need this book!

A very well written and knowledgeable book
As someone who has lived with fibromyalgia most of my life I have read many books on it. I have not read one as well written as Flourishing with Fibromyalgia. It has given me new hope and new strategies to use. One which I did not know was Contrast Showers which I have found to be very helpful. Also, to know that what I feel on a daily basis is real and not in my head. A lot of research has been done in writing this book. Dr. Hoitink has shown that she is very compassionate about her work as a Naturopathic Dr. She truly wants to give people who suffer from this debilitating disease a better chance at getting their lives back than her own experience in her own health journey. Another thing I really found helpful in reading the book were the Key Notes at the end of each chapter. I suffer from severe fibro fog and this helped me remember what I read. There is a lot of information on resources to research at the end of the book which I found very helpful. I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from fibromyalgia or anyone who wants to get knowledgeable and ACCURATE information on it!

Very helpful
Clear descriptions and very to the point but also with many recommendations of things to try. Got a few books out and this was definitely the most helpful.

A must have resource for anyone living with fibroymalgia!
Dr. Hoitink does a fantastic job at accurately describing what it’s like living with fibromyalgia, detailing the very long list of symptoms that people with fibromyalgia endure. To me that has to be the starting point of any good book about fibromyalgia. I want to know that the author truly understands this disease and not just understands the medical condition but comprehends what the person with fibromyalgia is going through. I believe that Dr. Hoitink definitely gets it. She gets me! Any fellow fibromyalgia sufferer will know what I mean by that. There is still so much that is misunderstood about this disease and it always brings me comfort when I can speak to someone who understands it.More than understanding and describing fibromyalgia, Dr. Hoitink has a wealth of information to share about the possible causes of fibromyalgia, the things that can make fibro worse, types of lab tests we should consider getting done and some good, step by step detailed advice that may help alleviate some of the many symptoms we deal with every day. I have had fibromyalgia for almost 15 years and have learned a lot throughout the years, but I have to say I learned so much more after reading this book. I have tried many of the things Dr. Hoitink suggests in this book and I can tell you that they have helped me tremendously. I had implemented some of these ideas on my own before reading the book and I know how well they worked for me, so I am very much looking forward to implementing some of the many other suggestions she discuses in Section 3 of the book called, Advanced Treatment of Fibromyalgia.I really loved the key points at the end of each chapter. Fibro fog tends to cause me to forget what I read so the summary of key points is extremely helpful. I also found the additional resources especially useful. So much good, practical & helpful information in one little book. I believe that anyone diagnosed with fibromyalgia would definitely benefit from reading this book. I am sure this will be a resource that I refer to often.

A kind and thoughtful read
Incredibly informative. I have book marked so many pages, to do a complete follow up on myself. Thank you for writing such a thorough read, but also an easy read. I was diagnosed many moons ago and now, I feel more informed then I ever had. A recommendation that I will share with many. It will sit on my shelf at work in a doctor's office as a resource. Thanks Dr. Melissa
