Foraging the Rocky Mountains: Finding, Identifying, and Preparing Edible Wild Fo

After having this book for a while, it has been super useful. It has added an entire extra experience to my mountain walk. Instead of just looking at the plants, now I can better identify and understand them. The book is filled with high quality pictures and information that can help a new forager get into the hobby. It also includes useful information about look-a-likes that could be dangerous so you can be extra careful when preparing to eat the foraged food.

This was a gift for a friend's son who will be attending school in the Rockies this year. He is a forager and was super excited about getting this book. He had just been saying that he would be in a part of the country where he doesn't know the local flora so my timing was perfect. I can't speak to all of the content, myself, but he has perused it and says it has a ton of useful info. Will update if I hear more.

Informative, well organized.

Easy to use, and although a little bit big to take on my backpacking trips it's still a convenient size to make it fit if I really want to take it with me.So far we have used it to much success. And I really like the suggestions of meals to make with your foraged foods.
