This journal is great. The ad shows the dragon and colors perfectly. It is nicely embossed and the stitching is perfect. The cover is slightly squishy which gives it a nice thick feel and look. The notebook inside is removable, the paper is lined, similar quality to notebook paper. If you take a piece of 8-1/2 x 11" printer paper and fold it in half... that is just about the size of the paper inside. Thus the outside dragon cover is slightly larger than that. At the bottom of the outside back cover it says SOHOSPARK (brand name) with a little "S" logo in a circle; it is not intrusive to the back cover.

This is a mixed review.The journal cover with a sailing ship looks exactly as pictured in the listings. It's perfect if you'd like a cover which appears to be leather in Instagram pictures but isn't. Packaging was impressive. And, it's very well made.I like the way it looks paired with my Moleskine Classic Expanded (Large). It will also work with a Jibun Techo Biz and WriteWell Writer's Notebook.Unfortunately, not all A5 refills are equal. This says it fits A5s but won't work with the journal I purchased it for. It cannot be used with an A5 Stalogy 365 or Hobonichi Techo Cousin because their covers are about 1/4" too wide.This also isn't a forgiving cover. A Kokuyo Systemic, for example, works equally well with one book or two inserted. In the Kokuyo, I can use a Moleskine Expanded and full year Stalogy together, for example. It just magically expands when needed. With this cover, my Moleskine Expanded fit, but I couldn't add anything else.This has a distinctly plastic feel in your hand. It reminds me of the way your legs stick to a vinyl seat versus the way natiral leather feels. The benefit to this is that it probably won't scratch and should be water repellent, but it definitely feels fake.The included notebook is lined (8mm rule) with numbered pages. It looks nice inserted. When you take it out to archive, it's plain white all-around and looks easy enough to label.I cannot comment on the paper quality yet. I'm waiting until I decide whether to return this. If I keep it, I'll do a pen test and update my review.In short, looks gorgeous. Giftable packaging. Works with the included insert or a Moleskine Classic in Large size. Doesn't fit true A5 notebooks. Feels like vinyl.

So this leather (pleather? Unsure) journal is gorgeous. I got the dragon cover and love it and got it for note taking with writing. My biggest issue is it is not what it says it is :( it says it has removable pages. They mean you can replace the whole journal inside not that you can take out and remove or move around actual pages. That’s what I thought I was getting so now I’m disappointed.

If you have a hardcover Moleskine expanded journal, you know how difficult it can be to find a cover - either real leather or faux leather than holds the notebook properly and lets it open flat without a struggle. This cover works perfectly with the Moleskine. It has now become my everyday carry cover and I have ordered one in the red dragon for another Moleskine expanded. This cover feels wonderful in the hand, padded just enough to feel good but not too much so it is difficult to write on. The stitching is perfect and the debossed dragon is visible yet subtle enough to use professionally. I own multiple covers, leather, cloth and faux leather at all price points and this is my favorite cover.

I bought this as a gift for a friend but almost kept it for myself. Handsomely packaged, the journal seems well-crafted and dresses up an A5 notebook. The fact that the notebooks can be filled, removed, and then replaced was the selling point. Nice feel to the product. I do wish they offered this same piece in leather for what would have to be a substantially higher price. I will update when I see how this one wears over time. Great gift for a student, aspiring writer, or anyone who keeps a journal or writes down thoughts and ideas. Will definitely be buying another as my wife and I both want one now.

I use a journal for work every day and recently began a photo journal to hopefully make my photography experiences a tad bit better. I bought one book for work and one for photography but immediately fell in love with the build quality of this journal so much that I rushed to purchase another for my everyday journal and may buy another for my side business journal. If you write doodle or just love having something around to jot done ideas give this journal a chance, believe me, it will not disappoint. It really doesn't hurt that it is a vegan product. That makes all the difference in the world to me and I never felt like I was missing out on the leather covers. They are not exactly the same but the differences are so minimal that you will be very happy with the look and feel of this faux leather.Thank you SohoSpark!

My son LOVES IT!! It was professionally and BEAUTIFULLY packaged. It was wrapped nicely in tissue paper. There is a very nice thank you notice inside. The journal is more of a dark gray and very soft but durable. My son believes it will darken up with use and he says THAT will give it character. The details of the dragon are superb. The notebook insert can be replaced in the cover easily. The pages are nice and thick and the lines are perfect width for him to write and sketch. Definitely a great purchase.

I love the paper and I love the soft cover. Has to be my favorite journal ever; however, I am having difficulty getting refills from the company. Not all 5A refills work for the journal. Also, i love their insert. Their paper is great quality. I purchased another filler but when they have theirs in stock I will by their refills.

I bought this journal for my wife and both of us are so pleased with it. It came nicely packaged and the journal is exactly what I was expecting.... beautiful embossed Dragon on the cover . Excellent value for the money and better yet my wife loves it !

Best journal I have ever purchased. Thick high quality leather and the best part is. You can replace the pages once it’s filled. I will always have a nice leather mountain design on my journal. Highly recommend
