Great for the yard!
Iโm always finding trash and debris in my front yard during my stroll to the mailbox, so I was looking for something to pick it all up. This little contraption works great. It enables me to pick things up without getting my hands dirty. Good investment!๐๐ผ๐๐ผ

Great picker! Awesome company๐
Bought this 'cause I was tired of all the litter in my hood. Seven big black bags in three days! Works excellent. Called Ettore customer service, asking if they sold replacement tips in case all my pickin' wore it out & they simply asked for my address & sent me one. On the house. Karma for picking up litter - I don't know?! But you sure don't see customer service like that these days, gosh darn true!

Very effective. Wish the maker would offer replacement spikes.
I used this gadget for about 20 minutes yesterday. It easily spikes soft drink cans, plastic bottles, thick cardboard, etc.I _think_ people are breaking off the spike because they plunge it into hard dirt, like clay, and then tilt the pole. The spike is brittle--that's why the point stays sharp. Also, if one uses it as a walking stick, that will surely break off the spike. Some people complain that the screw won't hold the spike. I keep a box of assorted screws here and if that happens to mine, I'll just put in a longer screw.Another poster said you could drill a hole in a broomstick. I actually considered making one from bamboo I grow on the farm; decided for the price, I'd just buy the metal one.I agree with EVERYONE that the "safety cover" is nearly impossible to remove, and once you get it off, it won't stay on. Simple solution: Once you finally get it off (don't break the spike) just poke the point into a wine bottle cork.As said in the headline, I wish the manufacturer would offer additional spikes.

Handy for paper & leaf trash pick up
This item has a solid painted wood handle with a ribbed plastic grip on top that has a hole so you could hang on a nail in garage to store it.The metal pick is about 5 inches long and strong enough metal gauge diameter that it should not bend under normal and intended usage. The metal pick is attached to a metal cap that is screwed into the handle. I am mainly going to use for leaf pick up in my mulch covered gardens this fall.It will also help pick up occasional paper trash on garbage/recycle pick up days without bending over.Anyone with back or hip issues could use one of these.
