That this basic grammar and not advanced, suitable for teenagers and adults.
I like the way it approaches grammar in a sympathetic and simple way. It leads the reader through each catagory of words thoroughly in a simple and somewhat amusing way. I am 84 and and know know my grammer could improve; this book is the most helpful and enjoyable I have ever read. I recommend it without hesitation.

A basic foundation to learning English grammar
There are currently two ‘For Dummies’ guides to English grammar – this Basic one and a more comprehensive one for a more in depth study to the intricacies of the subject.Basic English grammar aims to set out the rules of Standard English in a readable and easily accessible format, with plenty of examples along the way. There are 25 chapters which cover all the topics, from a basic introduction to the subject to explanations of the general parts of written and spoken English such as nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and interjections. Understanding the basics will take a little careful reading, but in general the book is laid out well enough to be able to follow the rules quite easily providing a little patience and practice is exercised. If anything, the book does get a bit too detailed at times, and there are perhaps a little too many examples for each grammatical rule which makes the learning rate slower than need be. It’s best aimed I think at younger students wanting to supplement formal studies, or the older person wishing to brush up on their English. The book does assume a basic level of understanding of the English language – otherwise it would not be possible to follow the instructions – so it probably won’t help those who are first coming into the subject with a view to learning English as a second language.A little wordy at times, but a good introduction to the subject, and a sharp reminder of how the ever increasing social media messaging is changing and evolving the English language, not always for the best.
