The Little Witch

Haven’t read it in 50 years & wanted to see how much of it I remembered.

Cute story. I have read this story and I think most new readers would like this. The words aren't too hard but some of the names are very creative. The 8 year old I read this with was perfectly OK to substitute names that he could say and started with the same letter.Adult readers would enjoy the light reading and interesting story with a cup of tea/coffee/cocoa on a rainy day. The rain isn't required but the desire to hunker down and spend a few light minutes (sans all chaos) is needed. There is much nuance in story because it is written in another language.Highly recommended!

Love this book! It said $16 on the book, but I got it for $14 on Amazon. Pretty happy with that.

The little witch has to become a good witch so she can join the old witches on Walpurgisnight for the dance on the mountain. But becoming a good witch isn't as easy as it appears...I loved this book growing up in Germany, It is written for a younger audience of maybe 5-8-year-olds. The chapters are short and full of wit. My kids enjoyed the book very much as well.

being german my kids grew up with the german version ordered this for grandkids, translaton is sweet an well done. a beautiful story for young readers. sweet illustrations throughout.

A great book to read to children or have them read to you

My wife had this book as a little girl in Germany. Glad to find a faithful English translation.

Loved this book when I first bought it in 1963 for my teaching practice! Over the years my copy has become rather tatty as it has been well used by my children and grandchildren. I decided to buy a new copy for my great grandchildren and they absolutely love it. One slight disappointment though. As the picture on the cover is in colour I thought perhaps the pictures inside would be in colour too but they aren’t. However this is such a lovely story and every child I have read it to has thoroughly enjoyed it. How amazing it in still in print after more than 50 years. That tells you how good it is!

Absolutely wonderful story, suitable for all ages. I’ve had the pleasure of owning this story for over 40yrs and enjoy reading it as much now as then.
