Q: Are you able to use these on walls of apartments (typically a bit textured but smooth not course)?

Yes it should work for you they stick very well just try to make sure the surface is clean and smooth.

Q: How does this product do with heat? we are planing to put it out rv as a back splash and are wondering if it will withstand the heat in the rv

We used it to go over the square tile backsplash in our kitchen. It sticks great! Looks just like tile inserts. Not sure about heat being a problem.
