Two of them malfunctioned
I have two 24-port USB hubs, one of these, which I’ve had for a few months, and an Anker that I’ve had for a couple of years. Last week, out of nowhere, this SmartDeluxe unit malfunctioned, and in very unusual ways. It was quite frustrating. I replaced the malfunctioning unit with a brand new one, the same exact model. It too immediately showed the same symptoms! So I purchased a new Anker, the same model I had already, to test and replace the SmartDeluxe. Sure enough, it worked perfectly, immediately.I don’t know what happened but frankly I don’t have the time nor interest in trying to figure it out. Instead, I chalk it up to a lousy product and manufacturer that I will never buy again. I do not recommend these USB hubs

A nice USB hub that still needs improvement
The Good:A well made hub with a decent port layout. Decent material quality. The Not so Good:Ports are a little tight for some connectors. The amount of force required to insert and remove them is likely to result in damaged port or device connectors.Half my peripherals were not recognized when connected even trying several different ports. Not good when it doesn't even recognize a high-end keyboard. This continued even after checking that the BIOS and USB Root settings matched the Troubleshooting recommendations.AC power supply seems underpowered when you connect several HDD enclosures that have separate power cables and a cellphone to charge. System dropped at least 1 HDD and cell phone charging was no better than connecting to a standard charger.

Doesn't Work, and Possibly Dangerous
None of my USB 2 devices worked with this hub. My USB 3 ports would rapidly cease to work after this was plugged in, but would work again after rebooting -- until I plugged this hub back in. I had no problems using my USB 3 devices while directly plugged into the same port. The build looks fantastic, and all of the ports produced activity when I plugged USB 3 devices into them. There was no activity at all, though, when USB 2 devices were plugged into any of them. It's a shame, because I have a mix of USB 2 and USB 3 devices, and this hub seemed to be the idea solution to my problem of USB quantity. However, quality is severely lacking, undermining any and all pluses it may otherwise possess. My bottom line: this is an overpriced product that should not be on the market. It is faulty on numerous fronts, and I suspect it to be a possible fire hazard (I attribute the frequent port shutdowns as overload protection).

It does what it needs to
I have been looking for a 3.0+ USB Hub with more than 4 ports for more than a year. I have seen a few, but when I checked them closely, they were of apparent low material quality or limited power when more than 1 port was used. I ran across this and am glad I did. It is built well [relatively heavy as it is a metal case, not plastic], each port is illuminated either blue (3.0 port) or blue (charging). It has 10 plus 3 respectively! More than I had hoped for! No setup required; just plug into power and an available 3.0 [2.0 if thats all you have] and start populating the ports. I have multiple 3.0 devices [already have WiFi adapter, label printer, USB HDrive, data cable(s) to 2 tablets & a Kindle, and to a MP3 player installed and 2 power plugs to provide power to both mini-USB and Apple gadgets. And I still have expansion capacity! Only takes up 1 of my external 3.0 ports on my desktop and I have immediate access as needed to them. Am delighted with the capacity, the price was higher than the cheaper units but clearly a good deal with I see all the resources it provides and its weight keeps it stable with all the connecting cables heading off in multiple directions that otherwise would pull it over. If you need anything like this, I believe you will be satisfied with its purchase. It should last years with USB 3.0 protocal and power outlets.

Great product
Both the company and product did me right. When I received the first unit and plugged it in the device smoke checked itself. I returned the item that day and they shipped me a new one in 24 hours. The new one plugged in and worked as expected. I have the device attached to my home PC and transfer rates of my USB 3.0 external drive to the system is per the norm for 3.0 rated devices. I also like the color coding of the Blue for attaching items and orange for just power as I don't always want my phone to sync up to my machine and just need to charge. So hats off to the company for taking care of me and for creating a great product. SLGizmo
