Cream of the crop
Dr. Rolf Hummel is not only an amazing author but also a remarkable lecturer. I recently graduated from the University of Florida and was very gracious to have Professor Hummel for a few of my courses. He has an extraordinary way of connecting with students in the classroom, making the lectures very interactive. He likes to follow the textbook when he lectures, and this is perhaps why his teaching is so effective. This textbook is a MUST for any first or second year physics, chemistry, or any engineering discipline student. Dr. Hummel approaches quantum mechanics from a very light angel and does not scare the reader away from its complexity. The textbook has a very nice layout separated into electronic, optical, magnetic and thermal properties. He also provides a nice amount of supplemental reading to current literature regarding the subject matter. Also Dr. Hummel mentioned in class that all of the procedes he receives from textbook sales, he donates to the university and various scientific organizations.

Avoid Kindle format
Publisher takes apparent shortcut in reproducing the print edition with equations pasted into text in tiny print. Waste of money to purchase in this format.
