I chose this due to low cost. I expected low quality but was initially surprised, however quickly found that I paid too much.
Cheap, but I expected that... in fact, I chose this item due to the low cost. I think I paid too much.My expectations were low, but it surprisingly exceeded those expectations when it first arrived and worked quite well out of the box. I played around with it and showed it off to friends and co-workers how were impressed with the quality considering the price. One friend in particular was about to drop several hundred dollars on an expensive 18'' long inspection camera from a home improvement store and chose to buy this instead. Those initial happy moments were very short lived since the first time I went to actually use the endoscope to search out a leak behind a wall, the cord developed a short, the light flickered, the phone would keep saying the device wasn't plugged in, and with a small wiggle of the cord near the camera, the picture would return briefly, then shut off again a second or two later. I have a very strong feeling that this is simply a bad solder connection with the cable and camera inside the camera housing. This is, without a doubt, NOT waterproof. I didn't get mine wet, but the clear plastic protective lens over the front of the camera kept falling off and falling out, even with the screw on adapters in place that came with the camera. This lens seemed to be 'friction fit' into the housing with no apparent glue or adhesive helping to hold it in place. Once it came out, it was never going to stay in place again. The USB connector design is quite ingenious and worked well for me in both PC and phone. The micro USB connector was a very firm fit and there were moments where I was nervous that I could be damaging my Note 4... but in hindsight, I was thankful that it was a firm fit and wouldn't fall out on its own. The High, Medium, Low, Off, illumination cycling with a press of the button on the USB plug was a very nice feature.Overall, I'm certainly not thrilled with this item... but I'm not angry since it wasn't overly expensive and I was prepared for and expecting disappointment. Even the 'NewRice' logo on the device was misprinted so obviously the quality control is non-existent. Will attach more detailed pictures later this week. I bought this 20 days ago and the price has already dropped by another dollar...

Good small camera on the tip of a long USB cable - Uses are up to your creativity.
Arrived and works as advertised. For PC use, it is just hardware that most OS's can install free viewer software for (VLC Media will work, as will Windows built in viewers). The Android software was $8, to remove watermarks. A little pricey for mobile software with limited functionality. Probably more options for phone software but have not looked. It works as advertised and my only complaint is similar to others in that for a use as a "endoscope or borescope" the cable is far to flexible. The cable length is nice as no borescope out there is this long. Probably just wrap 3 feet of the end of the cable in some duct tape or masking tape to add rigidity for longer free standing borescope type applications. For the price it cannot be beat. Even a cheap HF borescope with a 20% coupon can't compete (of course you have to provide the android phone or computer), but hey, very cool! Anything above 800x600 will drop frame rate below useful for most motion borescope applications. HD captures will require mechanical mounting, by hand is too jittery - or I had too much coffee...

won't give them a second thought
final edit:I forgot to edit the review, but i had emailed the seller and they sent me a new one. it still doent work on my phone or my friends' phones, but it does indeed work on the computer. the quality could be better but for what it was, it was good enough, and i can see what i need too. seller gets 5 stars for hospitality, item gets 3 for the roulette it seems to be=====2nd edit:i dont think its the software, i think that the camera just does not work. it lights up the LEDs, but literally NOTHING else. windows can't even detect it as anything. doesnt even say "unrecognized device"=====original review:i can't even use this, the program on the computer crashes when i try to capture something and doesnt even display a preview. the android app doesnt register the camera either. also, the app shows a diagram that implies we need an on-the-go cable, which i have and use often. but the camera still won't work at all. the best its good for is very low light when plugged into a computeraddition: it also seems that the app i installed from the QR code is a knock-off of CameraFi from the play store. for which it still did not work, but gave more optionscomputer program still won't work

Not a bad little tool
I gotta say, this isn't bad. I downloaded camerafi app from google play store and I was using this in 2 minutes. I bought it just to help me align my cartridge for my turntable and it helps by having close eyes behind and on sides, I can see myself rigging this up to maybe a piece of wire for stability to see in places I have never been able to see before, like under my shower in the basement, sort of afraid what kind of critters are down therelol but I see this getting me there. No, picture quality isn't fantastic but certainly good enough. Hey, got it on a deal and like18 bucks, well worth that. I never get products to try for free or discount so you can trust my reviews. Took off 1 star for crappy directions and the usb connection, almost broke it taking regular usb end off, pull straight off, don't try to flip it off. Picture shown it flipped up, not sure if that was the way to do it or not, Mine came off and since I will be using it on my Galaxy tab S it will be staying off.
