Get ready to get sneaky! This science kit gives you the tools and tips you need to learn how to be a master spy—but it doesn't take itself too seriously. The cleverly disguised decoy box contains cool spy tools, including a spy-decoder periscope (disguised as a pencil box), a microphone (disguised as a yo-yo), rear-view spy glasses, collapsible spy binoculars, a magnifying loupe, signal mirrors, a Masked viewing prop (holes in the back of the book to spy through), and a hilarious in-world book with SPY missions and challenges to test your skills. Kids will have a blast using the periscope to stake out and covertly observe the happenings in their home, using their magi-scope to read micro printing on money, tailing a friend from the front with their Rear View glasses, writing secret code messages to their spy partner with the Caesar Cipher built into the periscope, and more. Investigate, observe, and discover with SPY school sneaky surveillance!

Very fun to start with, but some of it didn't last long
The outside of the box looked fun and my two kids (6 & 8) were very excited to open it. The product is listed as 8+, but we do a lot of science and art kits together so they couldn't wait to get their hands on it.Pros:Product name 'Spy School Sneaky Surveillance' & outside of box are attention grabbersListening yo-yo was their favorite item. They carried it around the house trying to listen in on conversations and really had a blast with it. The reach on the cord from the ear piece to the 'listening yo-yo' is only about 6 feet, but they didn't seem to mind at all.Rearview glasses, they had a lot of fun wearing these around. They look almost like regular glasses but with tiny reflectors so you can see behind yourself. They liked reading the spy book and were excited the cover was designed to make it look like a checkers manual to make it look even more covert.Cons:Many of the items are made from light cardboard and fell apart pretty easily, like the periscope & 2 in 1 spy scope. In the end, with similar toys out there on the market, not sure I would pay $20 for it.We were given this product to test for an honest review.

A bit underwhelming...
I got this kit for my 7 year old daughter. I think it may be better suited for 10 and over. Overall, the product was a bit underwhelming. The sunglasses are by far the coolest of the gadgets - well made and fun to use. The periscope, made of cardboard, wouldn't stay together without tape. The microphone was neat for about 5 minutes until it stopped working. My guess is maybe the battery died. May be worth it if you have a child who is really into spy gear.

Kids loved the spy part, the quality could be a little better.
My 9B and 7G loved the parts that made them feel like a real spy (see below). It was enjoyed by kids from 5 to 14. But they didn’t dig into the science behind it too much. I’m afraid they either misplaced or never had the booklet, which I expect expands the usability and learning tools of the toy. I won't dock the review for our loss. We were disappointed that the yo-yo microphone stopped working almost immediately; it was neat when it worked! Some of the cardboard pieces have already ripped. Here’s what my 9B said:I liked the yo-yo because it made me wonder how it makes sound louder. I've seen rear view glasses before but these ones are even more disguised because you could see through one side of the mirror but not the actual mirror side; very cool!

Fun toy!
My daughter loves to sneak around the house and absolutely loved this set! The glasses and listening device are very fun! FYI- some people complained about the wire coming off of the listening device (which happened to us) but if you unscrew the base, you can plug in a pair of earbuds and use it that way! It would be ideal if we didn't have to hack it but it worked for us!

Spy School Sneaky (& Clever!) Surveillance Spy Kit
I loved the price point of this item! I have two sons (8 and 5.5yo) who adore “science-ing” but their attention span and ability to destroy things makes me hesitant to invest in anything major. The concept of the kit itself, as you can see in the unboxing video my sons were eager to make and share, is charming and full of surprises and wit. My husband and I both agreed that each item is clever and every inch of what you get is part of it, right down to the box itself. Would make a great gift for all of those birthday parties kids always seem to be invited to!The spyscope was easy to assemble, in fact, the 5.5yo just picked up the pieces and put it together. Once we figured out how to hold the scope (see photo) so that the lenses don’t fall right back out, which way you need to use them to get magnification (future learning opportunity!), both boys wanted to keep it.No spy kit would be complete without some rad spy glasses and this kit does not disappoint! The spy glasses have been to the park with us a few times, along with the spyscope. The yo-yo listening device was an instant family favorite, however, we all wished that the chord from the ear bud to the yo-yo were longer and device did not make it through dinner. It’s hard to know if it is because the battery died or if it has anything to do with an eager kindergartener, but I am impressed with the timeliness of their response when I inquired via email and a new yo-yo is on its way to our laboratory right now!We haven’t gone deeper into the STEAM aspects yet (it is the start of the school year for the boys and I :) but the booklet provides enrichment opportunities for rainy days! I am always looking for something that a.) allows for imaginative play and learning, b.) doesn’t include a screen and isn’t 100% made of plastic, and c.) is not a pain to clean up!<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/a-_7rXWvVv0" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
