Great diamond in the rough lens to have.
I've had this lens for quite some time now and I'm glad that I have a great copy of this lens. It's practically permanent on my Fuji X bodies. If I'm out and about, this lens is always with me and have become the first lens I pull out if I don't need to pull fast focus or time crunch work. If you have time to shoot and can nail the focus it will sing and take your breath away. Th Fujifilm focus peaking works well with this lens and really shines. I've heard the focus peaking on Sonys aren't so great so it might be a struggle on Sony cameras. The focus ring throw could be better for a more precise tuning but for what it does right now it's okay, just have to take a lot more care. The subject/background separation is impressive. I like to use this in the short to medium range to really make that f0.95 setting shine. Otherwise when the subject is much further out as in a full body/environmental shot, it's just okay. The aperture ring is click-less and will move on it's own if not careful. It's not weatherproof so take care in harsh/wet conditons. Buy a lens hood and use it often for protection and side flaring. There's not a whole lot of anti-flare coating or none at all so don't include very bright light sources into your frame.

This lens is basically my go-to for nearly everything
I made a slightly lateral move in investing in this glass since I already had the Zeiss Touit 32mm f/1.8. But, I now find that I'm only reaching for the Zeiss when I absolutely need autofocus, and the Speedmaster Mark II gets used for almost everything else. It's tack sharp, fast, well made, and generally a fun-to-use lens. I can't recommend this highly enough. The low light capabilities and bokeh of this lens are both incredible.

If you don't mind manual focus.....
I bought this for the .95 aperture, as I'm sure most people do, and for the bokeh and low light. The feel of the lens is nice as well as the build. It's not the sharpest lens I've got but you really have to look very closely to even notice that.

Great product
I was a bit nervous considering this lens given that it is entirely manual focus and as stated by other reviews, the focus can be hard to nail in fluid situations. If you primarily rely on auto focus and because a lot of newer cameras have great face detection, it may take some getting used to going into fully manual focus. However with practice it gets easier. I’ve used peak focusing with red coloring to help and it’s mostly useful. Generally I prefer to look through the view finder and use the focus box on the bottom right to refine focusing. It is possible to nail focus in very fluid social situations for candid photography but it works best with natural light, not indoor fluorescent lighting. In direct sunlight, creates some interesting results.I’ve grown to love the lens and alternate with the 23mm 1.4 and the 35mm 1.4 as needed. Occasionally the 52mm 1.2 for detailed portraits but the Mikaton 35mm 0.95 has a visually personality that is addictive. Highly recommended if you don’t mind manual focus.
