A fine unit. It has a lot of features. Police Scanner Outlet will pre-program it for your area and that is nice --- it is all ready to go when it arrives, and the A/C plug-in charger and cable that comes with it is a nice extra this seller offers. As for the manual.... I am not too impressed with the manual (which is not the seller's fault), but the good news is that there are lots of videos on the Internet that help walk you through the features. Or if you know somebody at a radio shop, they can go over it with you. All in all, this unit is packed with tons of features and programs. I would not even consider any other portable scanner. This one is top-of-the-line for what is needed in today's digital radio environment.

had problem with plugin remote power plug not working seems to be a on going issue with this unit, the decision was return it or live with it and have the unit on duty working and I purchased a 3 year warranty so I have time with it weather to return it or not so I decided to get some NiCad's batteries and a charger to see what happens with battery use. Well on consent use it drains the batteries in about 4 hours and right now I am using alkyds to see how long the last. The issue is when scanning it uses a lot of power in operation mode when scanning multiple channels, and to fully charge a set of NiCad's takes 8 hours so even with the remote plugin on the scanner with NiCad's you would have to leave it plunged in all the time in my estimation so I am debating just to by AA's in bulk and or have a lot of NiCad's charged up because the small Cell phone charger they say to use in my opinion would that even longer to charge the NiCad's. The unit itself is great but with all scanners hard to understand how to use and the operators manual is not user friendly had to go to YouTube to watch video's to understand how to use it . Just be prepared to spend a lot of time getting familiar in how to used it.

Didn't know there was so much crime and mayhem out there! My wife and I used to sit on out back porch and listen to the old scanner, which only picked up the railroads, aircraft and a couple of county fire departments. Now we get the State police, county sheriff, and all the local city police departments. We now sit INSIDE, with a cocked shotgun nearby. There is a drawback, it comes with an extra antenna which, because the mount is incompatible, is completely USELESS. Wrote to vendor and asked if there was something that I missed in the package, and was told that "no, that antenna won't work with that radio and there is no adapter enclosed. What????

Have them going 24/7... all over the house. Retired and have the time to do whatever I want and I don't care what time it is! Top of the line, this scanner.

A degree from MIT needed to program the unit. Hoped to use it while traveling and boating. Waste of money.

This is a good radio and with a little effort can be easily programmed from home. I have mine on everyday....
