Ovation Europa Sheepskin Vari-Shim Half Pad-Black/Black-Regular (16.5-17)

Can't speak to the long term quality, as I just got the pad, but it seems well made and is very attractive. I needed something to help build up the back of my saddle and correct some minor fit issues, because unfortunately buying a new saddle (for my new horse) is not an option at this point. I think this saddle pad will do the trick in the interim. I wasn't sure about size, so I ordered one of each; as you can see in the pictures I've attached, the Reg/Med pad is true to size and will fit a 16" or 17" AP or CC saddle.

This is a very good alternative to $200+ pads that offer shimming options. The included shims are of varying densities, materials, and thicknesses, so you really can achieve a somewhat custom fit. I bought the pad in black for use with my dressage saddle, and it looks pretty sharp. The fleece is very soft, though I can't comment on the durability since I haven't had it very long. So far, my mare and I are happy campers.

It’s nicely made, but is too narrow in the back. Saddle sits on the sheepskin instead of in between. Then on top of it, it slides forward while riding! So bizarre. I do not recommend this half pad.

This is a very nice sheepskin pad.

The ability to add and remove inserts was a huge help in fitting horses with shoulder issues.
