protection for difficult area of dog's body
My dog had surgery to remove a tumor from her shoulder. The incision was extensive and under tension. About 5 days after her surgery, she pulled about half of her stitches out, mostly where her body and leg meet. The vet said he wouldn't be able to clean up the edges and restitch, so she came back home with an open wound. We treated it with hydrotherapy and a spray antiseptic but it would drain, and we had the constant challenge of keeping her from trying to lick it. I saw the sleeve and it has been perfect. I have used it to hold a dressing in place to absorb fluids, and I have also used it at night to protect it from her licking. Now that it has almost healed, we are still using it to cover the wound and protect it from contamination so she can go outside into a fenced yard without a leash. It has been a lifesaver, and I highly recommend it to anyone with a difficult medical issue on a dog's shoulder, chest, or leg. It fits either leg. It is machine washable and dryable, so I wash it every day to keep it clean. It also works great with a sanitary napkin with adhesive on the back, because the napkin serves as a padded bandage, adheres to the fabric and is held in place.

This worked GREAT!
My 104 lb German Shepard mix dog had to have a tumor and dewclaw removed from his right front leg. The vet told me he will have a bandage on the wound but would need something to cover it for 10-14 days till bandage come off and stitches come out. She suggested a surgical shirt. I looked at those and didn't like the idea. I had a sock on him but he would chew on that, or get it off. I got this sleeve and it was GREAT! He is a big dog so I ordered an XL according to the size chart, I probably could have gotten by with a L. He didn't seem to mind me putting it on him and he didn't lick the area when it was on! He didn't mind wearing it. The Vet gave me a plastic boot to put on him when it was damp or wet outside, so I put that on over the sleeve when he went out. I'm super pleased with it and recommended it to the vet. It is a bit pricey but was worth it for us!

Great Design/Protection/Comfort but Runs Big
Overall, this is an ingenious design - effective, comfortable, and easy to use! It's much more comfortable than a cone for your dog if you're protecting a leg/shoulder incision.I bought the size large for my German Shorthair Pointer/Black Lab mix who is 65 pounds, very tall and skinny but with a deep chest (not wide chest, but it dips down low in the way of GSPs). I ordered a large based on his measurements and because he generally falls into the large dog category. I was even worried it would be too small. However, it turned out to be somewhat large on him. It still worked, but I had to fold the top closure way over on itself so only a few snaps were matching up, with the rest hanging over. Since the stitches this was covering were relatively high on his shoulder, I was worried the opening would slide down and the stitches would be exposed. This did eventually happen, although in all fairness to the product it only happened after he ran wildly through snow about 6" deep and the sleeve ended up soaking wet. We definitely used it in a way it was not meant to be used (he was mostly healed, this was just added protection), and if we'd used it the correct way it would have worked great. However, I would recommend sizing down if you're uncertain, or order 2 sizes and return one. Maybe if your dog is wider/fatter than ours the sizing works better.

Good-bye, cone of shame!
My 72 lb Lab had to have a dew claw toe amputated on her front paw due to a tumor. While she's generally very good about not chewing at hotspots, incisions, etc., this was a major incision/wound, will take weeks to heal, and will be in a spot that, when she lays down, is right in her face - very tempting to lick. And, being such a large dog, we couldn't exactly carry her everywhere, especially outside to "go", so we needed something that would protect and be flexible, and easily cleaned, yet stay in place and be so comfortable she wouldn't try to remove it. THIS WAS PERFECT!I ordered the Large size, and it fit well, using all but the very 1st set of snaps. It went all the way down her leg comfortably to her front toes, and the cuff was snug, but not too much - just enough to keep it from working upwards as she wore it. I actually rolled it back, to allow her to have traction on our hardwood floors and to keep it clean when she went out. It's soft, but the fabric is sturdy, heavy weight jersey with a bit of stretch, similar to athletic & children's clothes. She didn't seem to get too warm while wearing it indoors, and it dried quickly whenever it got wet (well, soaked!) from licking or from going outside early in the morning as the frost on the grass melted. It wasn't tight fitting at all, so it allowed air circulation, and the fabric has a smooth, tight weave so it didn't stick to the wound. It was a god send for us. Our dog had an unusual reaction post-op, she has extremely small veins, and the slightest pressure or constriction around her leg, even from a loose bandage will cause extreme swelling. It became so bad that we had to keep it unbandaged most of the time, and someone had to be with her constantly for the first 72 hours to hold a very loose, light bandage over it so it stayed protected from dirt, hair, carpet fibers, etc. and to check, remove & change the bandage every few hours when she slept. And, she clearly was uncomfortable, as despite our efforts, sometimes just adjusting her position or walking around would cause the wound to brush against something, and it would hurt - a lot.Once we put the Suitical Recovery Sleeve on her, all those problems went away. It was loose enough, even at the cuff, that there were no problems with her circulation or swelling, and it slipped on easily without rubbing against the wound. We had a few days of very low temps - like 12F - and this kept her leg warm and dry when she went out, or when in the cold car on vet visits, too. She stopped trying to lick the wound all the time, and even when she did, she couldn't actually make contact with it, so it was still protected. The sleeve didn't restrict her motion at all - she ran up & down stairs, jumped on & off people & furniture, and really seemed so much more comfortable and like her old pre-surgery self after she began wearing the Suitical Sleeve, because it allowed the wound to stay protected and begin to heal. The sleeve went thru the washer like a dream, too. I did toss it in the dryer, on the perma press/low cycle, because I wanted to get it back on her ASAP, and it came out fine.It was super easy to get on, even while she was laying down and refusing to move her Flabrador self off the couch. The vet loves it, the cuff is stretchy enough that she was able to put cup her fingers around the paw, push them under the cuff, and open them up as she pulled up the sleeve - kind of like the way people put on stretchy compression socks or tights/pantyhose.I can't say enough good things about this product. it's really well constructed and thought out. She's worn it, so far, continuously for a week, except for an hour off for washing & drying. She's worn it outdoors, running thru our soggy/frozen yard as snow melted & refroze, jumping around & barking at deer & squirrels outside the fence, and it still looks brand new. No fraying or coming apart at seams or around snaps, so many rows of snaps and a double strip of well-positioned, soft, flexible but strong velcro makes it very adjustable so each size with fit a nice range of body builds. It covered all the way to her armpit (pawpit?), and a wide area over the outer side of her shoulder & across her back to the other shoulder, so it would be great for a dog with a wound, hot spot, etc. in that area as well. Very soft & smooth inside, and the velcro never gets near their skin, so it would be comfortable for a dog with short hair or that's been shaved, or is very thin - no rubbing anywhere at all. The black color hides stains from blood, food, etc too. Vet is recommending these to other owners, and I'm recommending to everyone I know as well.

Buena calidad
Está de lo más linda! Muy bien hecha, nada más sí tomen bien las medidas, yo lo pedí sin hacerlo y le quedó un poco grande a mi perrito pero aún así le ha servido para su recuperación

Much better than the cone of shame
My dog would not leave her hot spot alone. She took meds from the vet and wore the cone for over a week, and once the hot spot was healed, we removed the cone and she licked it raw within 1/2 an hour of the cone removal. We did not want her to have to wear the cone for an extended period of time, so we tried this sleeve. The sleeve was perfect! It is made of cotton (thus breathable for optimum healing), and fit her perfect. Her hot spot healed, but this time we waited until the fur had grown back. Once the fur had grown back, we removed the sleeve and she has not returned to lick the spot raw. We are thrilled with how well this product worked.

Perfect for keeping surgery wounds safe
Great replacement for the cones that the vet supplied after my dogs surgery. He hated it and was scared so brought this surgery sleeve to keep him from pulling out his stitches. Kept his wound clean and safe. Really soft fabric so comfortable for them to wear and easy to put on and off and adjust with the poppers. Also washes well

Great invention
As my dog is a master chewer who can remove bandages in two seconds flat this sleeve was a miracle. Comfortable and easy to put on it broke his paw licking habit quickly. Excellent product. Washed it too and it came out like new.
