Almost a replacement for the EXCELLENT 2001 IntelliMouse Optical
I do general web-surfing, forum-posting, text editing, and super-light image tweaking. I am not a gamer, and I don't think this mouse is aimed at that market.I got a classic 5-button mouse new in bag (not pre-used as description says). It is USB, no PS/2 converter. This is a lot like a 2001 Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical: smooth glide, easy buttons, and the sexy red glow under the butt. I can feel it has been "cost-cut", the plastic a little thinner, weight a little less, the tracking not as rock solid. (Or is it the much bigger screens today?)Notes: these feel oily out of the bag. After an hour, I unplugged and got alcohol on a rag, wiped it down, twice; and may do it again (seems like oil seeping from cracks). The somewhat stiff cord comes wrapped WAY too tight and the kinks will never come out of it: I wish MS would loosen-up. However I already prefer this to the gamer-brand mice I have been trying.

Satisfied with my Purchase
Decided to purchase this when my original white one died after 12 years of faithful daily service. It arrived in plastic zip bag in what appears to be new condition. The Microsoft sticker on the bottom is quite noticeably different than my old one. I only have one to compare it to, but at worst, I would say this is the same original manufacturing tooling. The quality is very good and I can tell how worn-out my old one is now. I expect this one will last another 10 years.

Did not get what I ordered
Haven't used it. I bought it to replace my current Intellimouse, which 5 buttons. The mouse you sent is the "standard" 3 button mouse, which I am sure works fine, but I need the 5 button version like the picture on the add shows.

Mouse is as Advertised
I've used this model mouse both at home and work for years, finally kind of wore out. I decided to buy the black one as shows less dirt over time. I was a little leery, was it really the correct model as the description, photo's etc, weren't the best, but was exactly the model I wanted. What made me mad was I went to buy another, only to find out they are all out of them

One of the oldest mouse designs is still the best, for home and office use.
I am not a gamer, outside of single player games like Magic Jigsaw Puzzles and Spider Solitaire, so I cannot evaluatethis mouse for multiplayer games. For average home and office use, this older design is still the best design. I do not like any mouse using batteries. Sure, the cord will eventually develop an internal break due to constant flexing and metal fatigue, but looking on the bright side, it will never have battery problems, and it will never fall on the floor, under your feet or chair.

This is a great mouse.
I had the white version of Microsoft IntelliMouse and it failed on me--after 10+ years of use. It had worked so well, I wanted to buy it again. It is very lightweight, highly accurate, and functional with the side buttons and the scroll wheel. It has a cable, which creates some clutter, but the battery in the wireless models adds weight, which I don't want. One downside with my previous mouse was that the white color eventually accumulated dirt after many years and looked grayish. Hence, I decided to purchase the black one. This is a great mouse.
