Q: Does this box come with the plastic dividers for the big geeky box? If not do you know how to get it?

Not only do they come with the expansion... but I was stupid and threw them away because I didn't know about the Big Geeky Box at the time.... the company was great and sent me new ones upon request. So they have great customer services (for idiots like myself).

Q: can you really play this as a standalone game as the description states? I have never played smash up

Yes, any expansion can be played as a standalone game.The way the game works it that each player combines two decks together to play with. Since each expansion only has 4 decks, it can be played as a standalone for up to 2 players.Although it can be played as a standalone, I'd recommend you begin with the original Smash Up game as it can be bought for $20 right now, which is almost the same price as this expansion, it comes with 8 decks so you can play up to 4 players which would be good for a night with friends. However, if you prefer the theme of this game much over the others, go ahead and buy this one. It's fine to start Smash up with this expansion.

Q: Does this come with the counters and replacement cards like the 9000 expansion did?

It comes with counters, yes. It's a standalone game, like the other expansions. It does NOT come with the replacement Base Cards like in the 9000 Expansion. As I understand it, those replacement cards were added to the 9000 Expansion because the matching cards in the original game had slightly blurry text. Pretty Pretty Smash Up only comes with 8 new Base Cards, plus decks for the four factions in this set, complete instructions, the counters, and finally 4 Divider Cards which are for use only if you have the Big Geeky Box expansion.

Q: Can this one play with other expansions without the base original game?

It should but , you should have the base game.
