great value used for measuring bores on my engine

For the price it's very good but not without issues.There is a plastic shell that goes around the dial indicator, it's use is optional. you mount the dial to the top of the handle you are going to use and then clamp the shell onto the handle. On my two handles there is a plastic sleeve that the shell clamps to. In my kit the handles were both a different size. The shell fit on one but not the other. I took this apart and found the machining that is done in this area is not the same for each handle, the area for the dial mounting was OK but not for the shell. It was like one handle came out too big so they just slid a bigger plastic sleeve over it and called it good. I took the one that was too bag apart stuck it in my lathe and turned it down to the right size. Then made a sleeve that is the right size and put it all back together. Now everything fits as it should.Using the tool went fine. I had an immediate use for the small head to check some lifter bores. When I put the probe size I needed in, I found you can screw it in too deep and make the mechanism bind. Once I got it adjusted to where I needed it, all was fine and measurements worked well. I found things to be repeatable.This set reminded me of other cheap import tools I have bought, they generally function well but sometimes need a little tweaking to be right. So after spending an hour getting things to work as they should, I am happy with the tool and it's price point. Even without "fixing" it, it will do the job out of the box.The reason I give it 5 stars despite the issues is you can't touch these for this price otherwise and it was not a show stopper.

Good product the price is good

After doing a lot of research on numerous forums and websites for some of the top ten Dial Bore Gauge set, this set kept popping up on all those lists. So I went with this kit. I used it to check bearing clearances on a Ford 4.6L engine after It came back from a machine shop. It Worked like it should, and the case it comes with is perfect. Great Product.

This is a very good bore gauge for the money.I needed this for rebuilding a few engines just to double check the machine shop for accuracy.Found this tool to be easy to use and was plenty accurate for my needs.The only down side was the cheap little gauge protector that I ended up removing and tossing in the garbage
