Excellent book before a research unit
This was a great book to read to my third graderrs before our research unit. The kids really liked it and it helped explain why teachers/librarians won't tell students anything. It provides the teacher a good intro into a discussion about making students more independent thinkers.

do not buy
I am not a Buzzeo fan but purchased this on the recommendation of elementarylibrarian.com. I wish I hadn't. The book description mentions a librarian showing students how to use lib resources, but does not mention the resources are electronic. NOT all school libraries are automated, and if yours is not this book is a waste of money. The library described in the text could only be real in very wealthy communities. I have never heard of a school library with animal skeletons & everything else described. The illustrations are simplistic and boring. I like reading to students books that they can relate to. This is not one of them. What a waste of paper and money.

The Real Mrs. Skorupski Loves this Book
Years ago I shared a story with Toni Buzzeo at an AASL conference & she loved it! The result is " Our Librarian..." She did an excellent job portraying what happens daily in school libraries lucky enough to be staffed with professional Teacher-Librarians. Thanks Toni! The Real Mrs . Skorupski from Tucson, AZ

I Wish Someone Told Me
This is a story with a very average storyline. It was too focussed on "teaching" and lacked a solid and convincing storyline. I would not really recommend it.

Research: Let's Get Started!!!
Toni Buzzeo's book Our Librarian Won't Tell Un Anything! is of more use to the library media specialist preparing to teach reference skills and research strategies than as a read-aloud with the students. It is very useful in making sure the steps to research are reviewed, but not at inspiring young students to do the research. A book for the professional shelf of an elementary library media center, not a must-read for third graders.

What a Librarian!
Robert is new to Liberty Elementary and is sent to the library media center for books. After being assured by a classmate that the librarian, Mrs. Skorupski, won't tell him anything, he bravely asks anyway. What he learns is that Mrs. Skorupski, a smart and flashy librarian, will teach him what he needs to know - when he needs to know it! I love the message here: the library is available to learn whatever you need to know and the librarian is there to help you. I also love the lively energy depicted in the colorful illustrations of this busy facility. The booklet has lots of rubrics and forms you could adapt to all kinds of learning projects.

Rather boring..one time read
Expected a very funny story here but it was just okay. Not as funny and a bit dry. It gives a great start to teach kids to do their own research, if they don't know how yet or have not been to libraries often. We borrowed this book from the library and just read it once...

A Librarian's Opinion
Author Toni Buzzeo's captivating writing style and library/media expertise shine through as she introduces librarian Mrs. Skorupski and students Robert and Carmen in her latest book, Our Librarian Won't Tell Us Anything! This book would work fabulously as an introduction to the library at the beginning of the year or at the start of a research project. As Mrs. Skorupski works her librarian magic, the energetic and engaging characters are well on their way to becoming independent library users, without even realizing it. Included with the book is a booklet of library lessons which will serve as an excellent start for collaborative library projects. Highly recommended.
