The Waste Land and Other Poems (Vintage Classics)

If the book described in this review seems right for you, BE CAREFUL! Otherwise, you might end up buying something very different from the book I'm reviewing. Unfortunately, as of this writing, the reviews you see here for “Kindle Edition” are shown for at least five different Kindle books which are similar, but definitely not identical.If you look at the Product details for a listing, you will see an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number).The Kindle Edition I purchased has ASIN: B006HUST14. Its title is “The Wasteland and Other Poems (Annotated) (Literary Classics Book 25). This book includes poems that were originally published in three separate works: (1) “Prufrock and Other Observations” which was published in 1917 and includes 12 poems, (2) “Poems” which was published in 1920 and includes 12 poems, and (3) “The Wasteland” which was published in 1922 and includes one long poem with five sections, followed by Eliot’s “Notes on The Waste Land.” This particular Kindle Edition also includes a short biography of Eliot, a timeline of major events in his life, an interesting introduction by Professor Randy Malamud (author of three books about Eliot), linked annotations, a section providing some historical perspective, questions (e.g. for students or reading groups) and a bibliography. I believe this edition retains the formatting of the original publications, though if you increase to a large font on a small device you won’t see it that way.I found this particular Kindle Edition perfect for my needs. I like the formatting and the navigation. I also really like the linked annotations. Although these annotations are not intended to provide an in-depth explanation of Eliot’s symbolism, allusions, etc., they provide a lot of helpful information, including translations of the Latin, Greek, Italian, German, etc. that Eliot likes to toss into his work. The current price of this Kindle book is $1.99, which I consider to be a real bargain.====================Based on my preview of samples provided by Amazon, here is some information about some other “Kindle Edition” books for which you will see this review, even though it does not apply to them:ASIN: B002ZZQD3Q is titled “The Waste Land, Prufrock and Other Poems.” This book includes the 12 poems from “Prufrock and Other Observations” (1917), the 12 poems from “Poems” (1920), and the “The Waste Land” (1922). I couldn’t tell from the sample provided by Amazon whether or not this edition includes Eliot’s “Notes on The Waste Land.” The current price of this Kindle book is $0.60.ASIN: B072KP69YV is titled “The Waste Land.” This book includes “The Waste Land” and Eliot’s “Notes on The Waste Land. It does not include any other poems by Eliot. The current price of this Kindle book is $0.99.ASIN: B00CLUXB9Y is titled “The Waste Land (Liveright Classics)” This book includes “The Waste Land” (with Eliot's Notes on The Waste Land?) and an introduction by Paul Muldoon. According to the publisher: “ With a modernist design that matches the original, this edition allows contemporary readers to experience the poem the way readers would have seen it for the first time.” Since the sample doesn't include any part of the poem itself, I wasn't able to evaluate this publisher's claim. The current price of this Kindle book is $9.99.ASIN: B07QBY51R7 is titled The Waste Land Kindle Edition. The sample Amazon provides shows a hot mess. It looks like someone has taken scans from aged book printed in 1922, then cut them up to produce arbitrary fragments that sometimes chop off parts of the random text they happen to contain. I can’t fathom why anyone would want this edition, even if it were offered for free. The current price of this Kindle book is $2.99.

Book as described arrived fast

ノーベル文学賞作家のT.S.Eliot の名作詩集。大学で初めて出会った'The Love Song of J. The book is very delicate, and the hardcover and design are great. There are no folds, the content is also well-designed. However, The Waste Land is put in the last section. Ok for me since I love T.S.Eliot's work
