A learning curve to place on pitched roof.
Appear to be well made. Put one in the feed barn and the pesty birds left. To early to tell on outside use. We're still getting snow.

Love it
I purchased to keep on my porch to prevent birds from building their nests on my lights; so far so good. It’s also pretty cute on my patio lol

Don’t Let the (squirrel) Bastards Get You Down
An organic solution to an organic problem.Listen, friends, I have a squirrel problem. My wonderfully amiss neighbor thought it wise to start feeding squirrels in our apartment complex. She has done so quite successfully, so now fat and rampant squirrels terrorize the good plants of the neighborhood.I enjoy my flower beds. I do not enjoy waking up to find them dug out by the bastard rodents on a daily basis. And while I have trained my dog to run to the window and bark at the evil little creatures, they prevailed. Constantly. Daily. My flowers were being dug up.I sprinkled cayenne pepper. Still they came. I sat outside to ward them off. Still they came. They rampaged. They laughed at my futility. My dog and I grew ever desperate. I considered solutions. Should I purchase a BB gun? Should I be a crazy lady and shoe them away, and never leave my balcony? Should I learn to shoot and knock off their stupid little heads? No. No animal cruelty. That’s wrong.Alas, enter this little owl statue. While small in stature it has packed quite the punch in keeping the gremlins away. Yes, they are quite afraid of my owl statue. Every morning I sip my coffee staring out the window in sheer bliss. My flower beds are safe. Rejoice in knowing that this shall work for you the way it worked for me.Now, comrades, you must move the godforsaken thing around. So the critters know it’s a Real Owl and not a fake owl. That would be bad. Once, after many days of not moving it around, a squirrel did dare to cross my threshold towards my flower beds. And I ran out screaming, dog barking, so they may not come close enough to know the owl is plastic. So, switch it around every now and again, and keep the monsters away.I digress, it works for squirrels. It does not work for birds. I still have birds on my balcony, they’ve nested here. But for satan’s fluffy-tailed rodents, this is the solution.

It worked!
I used this owl in combination with strips of reflective tape that flashes in the sunlight. Together, they scared off a pair of Scrub Jays that had been dive bombing my cat and getting so close to me that it was a little scary. It took a few days before the two jays departed. In accordance with the recommendations in some of the Amazon reviews, I moved the owl to a new location daily. The reflective tape was Bird Blinder. I hung 3-foot long pieces of tape from tree branches in groups of 3 to outline a part of the yard where I wanted to protect my cat.The jays were probably nesting--it's May. I had hoped that they would continue nesting but just back off from where my cat walks around. She had stopped wanting to go outside with me when I garden. But it's likely that the jays relocated completely. It's important to act quickly so that the birds are not in the position of abandoning eggs or babies. Of course, I hope that was not the case in our yard.

It works if you move it around every day
I had a bird that was using my car as a toilet! It would just sit on my driver's side mirror all day and poop all down my door and mirror. I can't overstate just how much white, runny poo there was! It was incredible, and potentially damaging to my car's finish!I tried using my remote start to scare it away. I tried running out to the driveway with my arms over my head screaming like a banshee. Nothing phased that bird! Out of desperation, I bought this silly owl thing.First, It's hollow so you need to weight it down. There's a plug in the bottom covering a hole that's just large enough to shove some rocks and dirt into. It worked great the first day then the bird was back the next! I read in some reviews here on Amazon that it helps to move it around to different locations, and it definitely does! After about a week of moving it to a different place everyday, including right on the hood of the car, the bird left. Sadly, it showed up a few days later obsessed with the front window of the house where it tormented my cat. It was entertaining while it lasted. The bird eventually left for good. I think about it all the time. Where did it go? Is it okay? Did it find a mate? Does it still think about me?In the end I'm really happy with my decision to purchase this owl thing, especially since I was initially looking at pellet guns!

Cute Owl
This is my second owl that I bought. One for my deck, and this one for my new covered porch. We had been troubled by robins that pooped on my deck and over furniture for years. But then I discovered this owl about a year ago, the robins are no more! Then we just got a new covered porch, and already the birds were checking in. So now we have two of these owls and they continue to work great scaring off the robins. Also these owls are cute and attractive. The face is nice, and the overall size of the owl is good for sitting on a table or on the floor (a bit like a doorstop). Also there is a hole (with a stopper) in the bottom of the owl that you can use to weight down the bird. We inserted a bunch of pebbles so Ollie doesn't blow over in the wind. I took off one star because the paint job on the white feathers around the base of Ollie isn't the best. The owl is a bit expensive, but it does the job and that's worth it.
