Not black, color is dark gray. The metal has unpleasant smell and makes your hand towels stink. Also, huge made in China on plates

Has CHINA stamped in large font and all capital letters on each of the mounting plates. Impossible to miss, otherwise would be five stars.

Good quality, color was off,definitely not black. My OCD hubby took it apart to line up the mounting holes...but I kinda liked them random.
