Actually works, but it is a medication, use responsibly.
I've been fighting fleas on my pets for years. Tried a lot of different medications and options, few of which lasted or worked at all - Frontline was a joke. Comfortis worked for a couple years and then also started having minimal to no effect. . . etc. I have been through the ringer and the fleas in my area of have tomahawks. So, at least for now, Advantage II is a winner. I have to also give it high marks for one very specific thing: unlike all other monthly topical application flea meds I've ever seen, Advantage II can be reapplied after a week for severe cases. Which, having had issues of warnings that say 'do not reapply for 30 days', and the fleas getting active again in 3. . . is a very good thing. I did reapply on my dogs - who are indoor outdoor and the carriers that bring the fleas in to my cats.I do have one warning though: Stuff is strong. Both my cats are almost 10 pounds, so I got the nine+. The second time I applied it to one of them (full month later, not early) He started frothing, drooling and screaming for help. It was applied properly up above/between the shoulder blades, I even double checked the placement in case it had run a little and gotten to where he could lick it. He's fine, the fleas are gone. I don't suspect an allergic response, because this only happened the second time, but even so, I won't be continuing to use Advantage II on him as that did seriously concern me. My other cat had no issues whatsoever.I wouldn't necessarily bother reporting this, assuming it's a one off, but I found out from the person who recommended it to me, that this happened with one of their cats as well(who is also fine) so it seems a semi common reaction. So, TL,DR: as with any medication, watch your pets and be prepared in case of emergency.

Best Value Best Brand
So here is the deal. Cats will hate almost anything you put on their fur. After trying every flea medicine, Hartz Advantage II prevails, and in Amazon ratings as well. DO NOT use ANY other brand with the exception of Frontline (does not kill adult fleas) as most brands will cause seizures, drooling, and things you dont want to put your pet through. Both my cats get very upset and cannot properly groom for 2 to 3 days after treatment, this is true of all brands. Read the box, this product kills adult fleas, most other brands do not, and would say it right on the front of the box if it did. Other brands leave the adults hopping around biting everyone. (there is one competing brand which also uses flea paralysis) Minutes after treatment all the adult fleas stop moving, so they cant jump off the pet. The flea paralyzer has a great effect on instantly stopping all adult fleas. This treatment also eliminates them any area the cat sleeps, and if stray fleas hop on the cat later. Adult fleas can live a year. I have never had to use more than 3 treatments 2 to 3 weeks apart to completely eliminate the problem. Most often it took two treatments My cats do not go outdoors, I bring home the fleas from other peoples homes in my shoes and my clothing. This treatment did cause one of the cats to barf after eating, from getting in in their mouth while grooming on day 2. That and behavioral changes related to grooming were the only downside. Placement is critical, and it is important to observe the cats for awhile. On first use, try to prevent multiple pets from grooming each other. This is a cat routine, and they wont be happy, but this is the only effective way Ive found to completely eliminate fleas and have everything back to normal by day 4. I took a star from presentation for lack of simpler instructions.. ie your cat may barf up dinner.

It worked!
My daughter’s Russian Blue had fleas when she came to stay with me. My house got infested with fleas and it’s been miserable. I bought a different brand name of the same stuff on Amazon and it didn’t work. I thought she was just too polluted with fleas and needed something more. I was told it was the same chemical in the same concentration, etc..The third time, I made sure to buy Bayer brand.Within 14 hours of applying it, she was shedding dead fleas like crazy. She’s not scratching anymore. The vet said I could treat her a fourth time if needed. It’s been 4 days. I have more than 3 weeks before I can treat her again.I will try to update my review to let you all know how she’s doing.I have treated my carpet and furniture twice with Raid carpet spray and I have not seen a flea on the carpet or furniture for over a month.

This one works best for the price so far.
I have tried a couple of brands. One seemed to make 1 of my cats sick for couple of days. Im researching ingredients better now. I have a tight budget. I can tell within about a day, they scratch less and less.
